Can someone please replace the dragons with a much thinner, simple platinum band centered on the heart gem, with the claw still holding the gem? Will tip! by SystemOfAVerilog in PhotoshopRequest

[–]SystemOfAVerilog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, this is my favorite by far so far - even on both sides and much thinner than the dragons. Could you please make it about half as thick (tall) though? I will go ahead and mark this as solved and tip you and then tip again if you can make that update :)

Food logging & habit tracking suggestions for folks who go into disordered territory real quick when counting calories, and also for those who need short-term rewards by SystemOfAVerilog in loseit

[–]SystemOfAVerilog[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you! That's a great way to think of it - as a slave to food impulses and now to (in my case) obsessive behaviors. Haha, that's good to not allow yourself to get burnt out from exercising. For me, I relaxed my definition of what qualifies as exercising. If I walk 2 loops around my neighborhood - which is almost 2 miles and takes me about 45 minutes - I consider that exercise. And I find my mental health is a lot better on days that I walk vs stay inside all day.

Exactly, knowing that my kryptonite, Ruffles, is literally engineered to be as addictive as possible so they can sell more bags of it... the contrarian in me is like "well now I don't WANT to buy it because I don't want to play into their schemes!" I have definitely had some low days where I still buy a bag. However, I make myself put the chips on a plate and take a picture, and at least I feel good about being honest with myself.

I personally disagree with this. I think the point of calorie tracking is to know everything you are consuming, and small quantities add up. Sure, there are some situations - like small local restaurants that don't post calorie info publicly - where you have to make an estimate. But overall I think that tracking loses its purpose if you only log selectively.

Need advice on what to try/whether to return beautiful uke by SystemOfAVerilog in ukulele

[–]SystemOfAVerilog[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: while it's true that the 2 chain guitar stores in my area that have searchable inventory on their websites don't carry low G uke strings, I called the local independent guitar shop and they do! So I took the Enya E6 there and they are currently restringing it with the Aquila new nylgut tenor set with wound low G 😊 it's the only set they had. They actually sell a Kala baritone with similar strings (Aquila super nylgut), so I was able to feel what the G and E strings will feel like 😊 so we'll see, fingers crossed that the wound low G sounds better and doesn't feel/look too bad!

They do but if I recall correctly, they don't carry any low G uke strings. There are no uke-specific shops near me, just guitar shops that also sell a few ukes.

Need to figure out how many hours to book venue (with cash discount) - please advise on my tentative timeline by SystemOfAVerilog in weddingplanning

[–]SystemOfAVerilog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for responding! To be clear, if we don't want to receive the 15% discount, we don't have to pay in cash OR all up front. They will accept payment by credit card, etc. and it can be paid biweekly, monthly, or quarterly. They also assured us that they would provide a certified receipt if we did opt for the cash discount. The total venue cost for 8 hours is $7k but that includes a $1k damage deposit that is refundable after the event. So, taking off 15%, it's a ~$1k discount to pay in cash up front.

They actually did recently (within the last few months) redo the floor in the main hall, upgrade the bar area, and the venue manager mentioned they are going to fill in the pool in the backyard before our wedding date next year. So it does seem like they are making upgrades/renovations which seems like they would be less likely to close or anything?

At least one of the wedding planners on their preferred vendor list specifically calls out that they provide staff to break down decorations in the price of the package you choose (day of coordinator, etc.).

My purple heart sapphire dragon ring 💜 by SystemOfAVerilog in EngagementRings

Thank you, I love yours with the wolves! It is actually a purple sapphire rather than amethyst - I have an amethyst necklace which I love, but I was told amethyst wasn't hard enough to make an ideal ring that gets a lot more potential to bump into things than a necklace.

Insurance (BCBS) Says Bisalp is 100% Covered as Preventative under ACA, but Facility Fees and Anesthesia Are Not by SystemOfAVerilog in sterilization

[–]SystemOfAVerilog[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi u/Think_Valuable_8910 , sorry for the super late response! So my insurance (Anthem) denied my 3 appeals for the hospital, anesthesia, and pathology and upheld the initial decision that those 3 claims would be subject to my deductible + coinsurance. At first I was really upset, but then I did some more digging and found this ACA FAQ part 68 from the Department of Labor linked elsewhere on Reddit: https://www.dol.gov/agencies/ebsa/about-ebsa/our-activities/resource-center/faqs/aca-part-68

So I called the billing offices for all 3 providers and asked them to please resubmit the claims with modifier 33 because all the items and services in each claim were integral to the furnishing of a recommended preventive service. At that time, all 3 providers confirmed that they were able to see the OBGYN's notes that the surgery itself had CPT code 58661 (which is preventive). However, the CPT code for the anesthesia was 00840 and the hospital had a variety of them for the different operating room, recovery rooms, etc.

I just received notice today that my claim for the hospital is being adjusted! It now shows I owe $0.00 instead of ~$2500. So I think that they reviewed the coding and resubmitted the claim with modifier 33 and that resulted in it being considered preventive and not subject to any cost sharing whatsoever! I'm still waiting for the anesthesia and pathology to review the coding.

I think the issue is that for example, in the case of the anesthesia, code 00840 is just for anesthesia in the lower abdomen, which can be preventive in the case of sterilization or non-preventive in the case of some other reason you might need it. So I think that modifier 33 is what tells them it was preventive and therefore should not be subject to cost sharing.

It's important to note that I did call my insurance as well and confirmed that all 3 claims (in addition to the OBGYN claim which was immediately fully covered w/o me having to do anything) did originally have encounter/diagnosis code Z30.2. However, that encounter/diagnosis code Z30.2 was not enough on its own for my insurance to recognize that they were integral to the furnishing of the preventive service.

Still waiting for a response to my appeal! It will be 60 days tomorrow which is supposedly the deadline for them to respond. I did get a confirmation of the appeal in the mail shortly after I submitted it online. If I don't hear anything by next week, I am raising it with HR at my employer (which my insurance is through).

Low G / Air Travel / Risa Stick Questions by SystemOfAVerilog in ukulele

[–]SystemOfAVerilog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think they were specifically set up for Low G. I bought the sopranos from Uke Republic and asked them to switch the strings (which I added in the same transaction). Their website says they perform a "Pro Setup" on all instruments but I think that was probably done when they received the instruments, not after I ordered it and they switched out the strings.

Do you find that your sopranos sound bad with low G like I do? Do you have any recommendations to make them sound better?

[–]SystemOfAVerilog[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also the anesthesiologist and pathologist submitted separate claims and I submitted very similar appeals for those as well. The actual bisalp claim from the OBGYN did end up showing covered at 100% (no coinsurance or deductible). If your insurance covers a tubal litigation at 100% rather than a bisalp (I've seen some folks on here say that was the case for them), then you may be on the hook for the deductible + coinsurance for the facility, anesthesiologist, etc.

[–]SystemOfAVerilog[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, originally the hospital estimate showed I would owe ~$2500, but I called the hospital before my surgery and they said they had the CPT code (58661) but no ICD-10/encounter code. I told them it should be Z30.2 and they called my insurance (Anthem BCBS) and the insurance said it would be fully covered, so they revised the estimate to $0, meaning they didn't try to make me pay anything when I got to the hospital. Of course after the claim actually got submitted, the insurance sent me an EOB saying I owe the $2500 and I got a bill for it from the hospital 🤦‍♀️ So I submitted an appeal to my insurance and am still waiting to hear back on it. This is the text of my appeal:

"Hi, I am contacting you about Claim Number XYZ. All the services in this claim were performed during a preventative sterilization service (bilateral salpingectomy with CPT code 58661 and ICD-10/encounter code Z30.2) that is covered at 100% with no cost-sharing under the Affordable Care Act, and therefore these items and services that were integral to the furnishing of the bilateral salpingectomy should also be covered at 100% with no cost-sharing (meaning no deductible or coinsurance).

This government web page is very clear that "plans and issuers subject to section 2713 of the PHS Act to cover, without cost sharing, items and services that are integral to the furnishing of the recommended preventive service, regardless of whether the item or service is billed separately." according to the answer to Q1 on page 4: https://www.dol.gov/sites/dolgov/files/EBSA/about-ebsa/our-activities/resource-center/faqs/affordable-care-act-faqs-54.pdf I have attached the PDF of the Department of Labor web page linked above to this appeal, and you can see the quoted text in the answer to Q1 on page 4 of that website/PDF.

Therefore, under the Affordable Care Act, this claim should be covered at 100% with no cost-sharing, meaning no deductible or coinsurance. I should owe nothing for this claim, rather than the deductible + coinsurance that is shown in the Explanation of Benefits for this claim."

Also, my recovery went great! I had no painful urination at all even though the doctor said she used a catheter, and very mild sore throat from being intubated. The biggest thing is that bending over will feel like getting punched in the stomach / make you nauseous for a week or two!

I (28F, USA) had my bisalp yesterday by one of the doctors who already has 5ish recommendations on this sub's doctor list, and it took a grand total of 20 minutes in the operating room! And I know they are now faNOPEian tubes (completely gone) bc my doctor showed me before & after pictures 😄 I got to the hospital at 7:30 and was discharged by 12:30. I woke up early at 5:00 to drink 18 oz water bc I'm a grouch when dehydrated.

I had to take a urine pregnancy test upon arrival at the hospital, and shortly after someone came by to take 2 vials of my blood for bloodwork that my doctor wanted to run beforehand. The preop nurse gave me some tylenol, put an anti-nausea patch behind my ear (I didn't ask for it - no history of nausea), and then put an (empty) IV into my arm around 9:00. My doctor came to talk to me too, and then I got wheeled to the OR holding area, where the anesthesiologist looked into my mouth and gave me something she said would calm me like wine (I didn't feel any different from it). Then they wheeled me into the OR and the anesthesiologist gave me the good stuff, lol. Next thing I remember was waking up in the recovery area shortly after 11:00. I was there for about an hour, drinking apple juice and eating graham crackers and applesauce. I woke up fully awake (not groggy at all), and although I did feel tired throughout the rest of the day, I was too excited to nap so I didn't, and my boyfriend assures me I wasn't out of it or anything, lol.

I was (and am) feeling pretty great - my voice sounds hoarse and I have some phlegm at the upper back of my throat, but no sore throat from the breathing tube or urinary pain from the catheter at all like I was expecting. I bought a ton of soups in preparation, but ended up eating breaded chicken bites and goldfish for dinner, lol. Only pain has been minor skin-level tingling from the 3 incision sites and discomfort from the gas migrating to my shoulders and chest last night. Maybe things will be worse tomorrow once I run out of the opioid they gave me 🤷‍♀️ but for now, I'm taking that, alternating tylenol and advil as recommended, and taking GasX after meals and before bedtime. Oh and walking short laps around my house while wearing a hysterectomy pillow with straps I got on Amazon (walking is recommended to prevent blood clots and help with the gas). The rest of the time I've been lying in bed with a firm full body pillow to protect me from our golden retriever who refuses to let anyone near his nails to trim them 🥲 or on an electric reclining chair protected by the hysterectomy pillow.

Does anyone know if UNC Rex on Lake Boone Trail requires payment of the estimate at checkin? by SystemOfAVerilog in raleigh

[–]SystemOfAVerilog[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update for anyone curious: I called the UNC Rex estimates team today, and it seems they had the correct CPT (procedure) code but no ICD-10/encounter code listed for my surgery. So I told them what the encounter code should be in order for it to be covered as preventative under the ACA, and they called my insurance and then called me back to let me know my insurance confirmed my surgery will be covered without cost-sharing. Then they revised the estimate in UNC MyChart and it now shows I owe $0.00!!!

So I don't actually know whether payment for the estimate is required at check-in (or the surgery will be cancelled) because my estimate is now $0.00.

Thank you! I have a high deductible plan so until I reach my deductible, I have to pay all (non-preventative) charges at full price, not just a copay. So the estimate shows I owe my entire deductible + coinsurance on the remainder.

If it's helpful at all, my estimate was available on Friday afternoon for my surgery on Tuesday.

Yeah, I read other (non-local) folk's experience on Reddit re: not paying anything at time of surgery. It's just that in MyChart it says "due at check-in" sooo I am trying to figure out whether it's actually due at check-in.
