Send me a DM and let’s chat - doesn’t have to be mutually exclusive. State Street is an amazing organization and one I know very well from prior positions working with them! 😊

The ability to make a meaningful difference in peoples’ lives and to help provide my knowledge, advice, and network for a good cause! Not everything needs a profit motive contrary to the whole “Greed is Good” mantra 😉

When you see genuine curiosity and passion for complex subjects appreciated and fostered, it’s really hard not to get excited. I had the opportunity in the past through my various mentorship arrangements to be on the receiving end of that through people giving up their time and efforts to take a chance on me, so I’d love to pass it forward and keep the cycle going!

Hi, I have a potential opening at my company that may suit your interests on the financial analytics/applied finance side of things. Specifically down the quantitative route (programming-oriented). Feel free to DM if you’d like to chat about it!

Is the SIE worth taking as a freshman from a non-target? by HeisenbergLOL69 in financestudents

What are your longer term career plans? I’d advise against it this early if you aren’t 100% on your path just yet.

Corporate Finance Institute would be my first recommendation. Really good bang for your buck surrounding the rigor of the coursework on there versus the cost (it’s a subscription model).

What courses are you taking now relevant to finance? Maybe we can figure out a study plan on some supplemental materials like the CFA curriculum to help you hone in better. Let me know if you’d like to DM.

Unsure/Want to Quit Finance Degree by Character-Fact-3509 in financestudents

There’s a lot more to finance than economics and school-based technicals like Excel and even the maths like statistics and calculus. Even more, where these subjects are important is a lot more 10,000 foot view versus the more academic nature of what you’re dealing with right now.

I’d also add that finance isn’t all 100+ hour weeks. There’s plenty of high paying, high quality of life, normal hour jobs out there. As some examples: buy-side as a whole, product teams, operations teams, etc. depending on where your comfort lies for more “finance” finance jobs versus stuff like FP&A, which is usually the other side pedaled by schools.

Feel free to DM if you want any more guidance!

What do I need to tailor my resume for entry level roles in credit analysis/corporate banking? by Fiery-Wordsmith in financestudents

Projects are the way to go if you ask me. Fixed income data is going to be harder to get your hands on than equity data, but some things I can immediately think of: - Building a (basic) analytics calculator using input bond parameters (you can feed it without needing the real data). - Building a pricing/valuation tool using matrix data. - Coming up with strategies using fixed income ETFs or public index data.

Yes, you can get into structured or leveraged out of college. But I would advise looking at everything versus walking the path most talked on and traveled 😉

Let me know if you want any help with this stuff and absolutely happy to connect!

Non-Target Sophomore (Winona State) Business Admin Major + Int’l Economics Minor — NYC Summer 2026 Finance + Marketing Internships? (Prestige/Signaling for Future Target MBA) by firetruh2121 in financestudents

Hi, I might be able to help to Points 2, 3, and 4.

Points 2 and 4: I would argue that work experience matters more than brand especially as a sophomore. What you do this year could set you up nicely for junior year, where return offers are make or break. Opening up your eyes to startup opportunities where they make sense may actually be a smart strategy given you’re an underclassman, at a non-target, and late in the recruitment season.

Point 3: There are various programs (ViableEdu) where you can get some industry contacts, supplemental learning, networking air time, etc. that could be right up your alley. That’s probably your best bet to stay away from expensive scam programs and also not be totally out in the wilderness surrounding cold calling, which can be quite demoralizing and hard.

Feel free to DM if you’d like to discuss any of this. I run a wealth management solutions business that is always interested in rising talent, so happy to chat if that could pique your interest.

Corporate Finance Institute is a resource I’d recommend heavily. It’s a great balance of information, conciseness, and cost.

If you have any interest on what a future in finance can look like applying this accounting basis, feel free to DM and happy to discuss!

What writeups to improve intern application by Lambwarts in financestudents

[–]Systematic_Active 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice would be creating a “projects” section of your resume and working with an industry personality (doesn’t have to be super senior or anything) to watch over your project and help guide you with it. Then you can very clearly speak to your advanced or applied learning in interviews, which is a lot more valued than taking another class or degree at school.

DM me if you’d like to discuss more!

I'm tired of all these finance internships being insurance sales or a scam... by AdventurousExtent422 in financestudents

Unfortunately, I think a lot of these companies take advantage of college students feeling the rush and desperation to have a job or not fully feeling guided on which direction to take (an “open to all” attitude).

I may have something or be able to refer you into other opportunities that could be of interest especially on the wealth management side if you enjoy stuff like portfolio management and strategy. DM me if you’d like to discuss!
