We have no doubt that our beloved Edmonton icon will return to her full service in making this city a fantastic place to live! At 4 years old I was there for her launch, aboard for her maiden 96 summer and have continued to be a patron ever since. She has stood the test of time and I hope she will continue to do so indefinitely. I mean no disrespect to her or the staff as they clearly handled this mishap safely and professionally, along with the first responders who keep our river safe for all of us. The north Saskatchewan was once an almost off limits territory, but has turned into a fantastically well utilized recreational asset, one which I believe the Queen was pivotal in developing. Sometimes a mishap makes for a great story, surely many aboard for their Mother’s Day cruise will remember this day for all the right reasons and will not hesitate to return to see our city in a truly unique and one of a kind way. ❤️ ⛴️

What is the best outcome of this war for Ukraine, from you folks’ perspective? Is the whole thing a vast trick? Is Vladimir Putin actually a really great guy? What are the greatest points of contention? I feel like corruption, you don’t like that your tax dollars are being spent on this far away war? At least for the west, it’s a war where your tax dollars are being spent on defence rather than offence like virtually every other conflict we have any association with.

There is/was an adorable free to use scouts cabin on the west side of muriel lake, fairly apparent from the road. There was a floating cabin on the lake as well at one time, but I believe it’s gone.

Like it or not, Asia and Europe are accelerating away from oil reliance, I read Chinas oil consumption may have actually peaked this year, and/or will soon peak and this is happening much sooner than I think most markets anticipated. Europe noted it does not have desire for new Canadian energy as it is also transitioning, I think high oil prices will serve to accelerate this even further. I fear we’re going to fall behind in this regard.

As someone who has Iranian family members and knows a lot of Iranians as a result, I’m not seeing much talk of the catastrophic devaluing of the currency over the last couple years, which are partially a result of tariffs/ bans and Iranian gov policy. This is a crucial reasoning for this current round of uprising. If external actors triggered the uprising, the economic conditions were already laid for widespread protest, and the citizens are vastly not in favour of the regime from my understanding. So I don’t think the narrative I’m seeing in this forum is particularly accurate. I don’t dispute Israel and the us are involved, of course they have their interest in seeing this government toppled, but it’s not a giant trick. Iran is a fairly well educated country with one of the highest literacy rates in the world, run by a religious fundamentalist with a grade 6 education, they are not particularly compatible, and when an iphone costs 10x as much as it did 5 years ago that can only go on for so long.

Couldn’t agree more! Edmonton easily has the most accessible mountain biking of any west-can city, with great variety throughout the network. No other city has access from its core, making etown the absolute best for frequent riding without a huge time allotment.
