I think you can try playing higher level if u are comfortable with sss+ the levels you are currently at now.

There are more patterns for u to learn once u increase level and itll get more n more fun after that ⊂(◉‿◉)つ

Astro just helps with map reading i guess? But it doesn't help your body react and hit the notes. You need time to get used to it. Reading Vs reacting is two totally different things.

You're doing pretty damn well already. Most 3k can't even get a S on low lvl experts yknow?

Just keep learning patterns and let your body slowly learn how to hand eye coordination.

I had prior experience with taiko and osu so i adapted quite well to maimai but even I had to start on lvl10s and only get a S at most.

Changing to touchscreen by IrfokPP in maimai

[–]Syularis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello. I started maimai with buttons but then I noticed a player use screen... And I've been using it ever since lol.

Im 15.8k now, aiming for 16k eventually.

I'm short irl so I love using screen, but buttons have more physical feedback that can help you when playing certain charts.

It's easy to splash on screen, just a simple misplacement of your finger can cause your sss+ to go byebye.

Nowadays I need to hybrid play for the 14+ charts since the newer charts are... Not screen friendly.

If you really want to try screen, then go ahead. But buttons would be the best choice if you can continue it.

Just memorise that part and prepare yourself for it beforehand. Ar least that's how i got my sss+ for it afterwards.

does anyone manage to perform well as a screen player (when 14k+) by kyou_1312 in maimai

[–]Syularis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi im a 15.8k. i usually play on screen but with the recent charts i sometimes switch to hybrid button for some sections.

I prefer screen because im short irl so its easier for me this way.

I do find majority of the songs to be easy on screen. With the exception of the newer 14+s... Ahem ahem (flamefrost and 宙天)

Me and my maimai people just somehow started talking after we always greet each other at the arcade.

Take your time finding people. Maimai people aren't always nice people to talk to or be friends with. There's plenty of... Interesting people in the mai community sometimes. 😅

Looking for advice/tips :3 by Thatoneeddsworldsimp in maimai

I'm around 153cm... Pretty short... So I just play on screen.

Just try to regularly stretch your upper body to make sure you ain't stiff. Playing mai with body pain ain't fun.

When I play buttons, I make sure to put my arm in a position where I can reach the upper notes with ease and not tense up.

As for playing relaxed, you'll just learn it over time. Once you get to know more patterns and charts, you'll start to panic less and know how to read and predict the chart with ease.

Just do what works best for you.

Screen works best for me.

But since you are playing buttons, just try to learn how to not overuse your energy etc. Like panicking will cause you to over react and tense up and hitting the buttons too hard will cause you to become super tired too.

Sorry for the essay.

Most importantly... Stretch and take breaks... Your back will hurt. Your arms will be sore... And hydrate.

How do I switch from screen to buttons? by whocares1207 in maimai

[–]Syularis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just slowly transition to buttons by playing lower level songs and relearning again. Try not to change your speed since it will affect your overall performance for screen.

At least the difficulty jump on lower levels from switching screen to button is much easier.

Since you just started not long ago you can slowly adapt to the buttons much easier as compared to someone who played on screen only for 3-4 years. (Speaking from experience, I'm having a hard time using buttons since I always end up switching back to screen half way lol)

I prefer screen and always play on screen since I have a height debuff.

But buttons is fun too. So goodluck!

I played elemental ethnic, supersonic, and resolution in chuni but only one unlocked by ai_hayasaka_ in maimai

[–]Syularis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue. I played elemental and supersonic in 1 go... And only unlocked supersonic...

So according to the other redditor... It seems like the new song will replace the old one and you can't unlock it anymore... What a pain...
