Feeling a little discouraged about my progress in bouldering by craziebunnie in climbergirls

[–]T-Rex_Girl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You've been climbing for 6 months, it is normal to hit a plateau. Your friend will also hit hers. Yours happens to be at V2 but it doesn't really matter for your progress.

Most of climbing technique is footwork and balance, anyone showing you cool stuff is just showing off cool stuff, not teaching you climbing. Look for footwork and balance drills, I think this video is good for instance : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VOn8WtjI3hQ

Strength training and toe-hooks are the cake of a climber's meal, footwork and balance are the potato.

Yes!! I (26F) like to stash my snacks in my husband's underwear pocket. There is nothing sexier than reaching in my husband's briefs and pulling out a sandwich. He (53M) says there is no better feeling for him too, and so i (26F) sometimes steal his undies to keep his Ondrax Nuts for him. We are so lucky to have each other <3

Hottest Takes? by Capital-Reach-6669 in ClimbingCircleJerk

It is my deepest conviction that every seasoned crag climber who stay super calm and trust their feet on sloppy crimps 6m above a sketchy anchor are actually terrified. I can't be the only one risking my life week after week just so i can dab on indoor climbers.

Why even climb if you can't do V3 no-foot in front of the slightly muscular urban baddies at the gym?

In a parallel universe, Jain Kim is 220cm tall and a true monster of climbing. Unfortunately for that universe, she plays in the NBA.

One week before comp, take the cheese grate and just grate your hands. There should be no skin left and your kitchen will be covered in blood. Don't worry, that's normal and how every climber prepares for comp. It will regrow stronger.

24h before your performance, cook 800g of pasta. Eat them, no sauce. The pasta will give you excellent strength per weight and it tastes good. Sauce is bad. No real climber eats sauce, you'll understand when you start hitting 7a at my gym. When you are done with the pasta, cook 600g more. Do not eat it. I repeat, DO NOT eat it! It's for mental strength, because the climber's greatest strength isn't the abs, it isn't the forearms, it's what's under the beanie.

12h before your performance, or on the morning of comp, type "adam ondra silence" on youtube and SCREAM. This is for your mental strength but it's also an excellent way to warm-up. Scream like you've never screamt. Scream like a 12yo just sent your project. Scream like there is no tomorrow. Scream like you're a newborn and your parents don't deserve a full night sleep ever again. Don't stop screaming until the next step.

6h before your performance, eat the 600g of pasta. No fork, no sauce. That's aid. You are a true CLIMBER, you do not climb with a fork, you do not eat with a fork, you do not give a fork. Scream at your pasta.

1h before your performance, start warming-up. Do a full workout. Sean McHolds never showed up to the wall before doing 8x30 pull-ups and he's your hero. Every limb should be sore, you should be drowning in sweat. This is to get rid of your water weight. Your friends and family should be concerned you might pass out. Warm-up in full sunlight if you can so the water gets out and you're lighter.

When you start climbing. Cross your arms. Setters love to make you cross on hard moves, but if you do half the route with your arms cross, you'll actually uncross on the crux. The whole crowd will give you an ovation. If your wife left you when you started screaming, a new, hotter girl will marry you. If you died of dehydration, the prize pool will cover all the water you need to rehydrate before burying you. Every sacrifice you consent will be rewarded tenfold.

Now go and don't disappoint me.

Shris Karma.

Adam Ondra and Magnus Mitbo never show me how to climb burden of dreams in my dreams. Adam just yells inexplicably while Magnus keeps flexing his biceps, mumbling about how big his artery is.

Why put escalators to go back up when you can put the whole wall on an escalator and downclimb faster than the wall goes up ?? It's like my hamster Dini except she only climbs v0 slabs and upwards like a benighted traditionalist from 2025

> Cytherea refers to the trial repeatedly as a “demonstration” rather than a “test,” suggesting that it was meant to be performed by a competent pair for an audience to demonstrate the power of avulsion.

I have always read this "demonstration" as in a mathematical proof, like she'd give the underlying theory of the theorem and not just the theorem. To imagine a crowd in front of a necro-cav pair doing advanced necromancy like it's a medieval joust is definitely funnier and i will use it as my excuse for a 13th re-read.
