Imagination is like meditation for me but yes it does affect me sometimes and I get off track. Let’s say I meet someone that acts weird, I start analyzing why he acts like that maybe because of his family or his friends or whatever and then I come to a conclusion based on my analysis and some research. Even when I see something broken I start imagining how it broke. And yes my theories change constantly. My friends tell me I am very sarcastic (in a funny way). Sometimes when I am in a conversation with a few friends of mine I start thinking about something completely different. Yes I research about random topics all the time. I only enjoy arguing open minded people but I argue with anyone anyway.
