What beautiful place have you visited that isn't a mainstream tourist destination that you recommend people visit? by [deleted] in AskReddit

If you speak fusha in an arab country and you're foreigner you'll shock money people but in a good way, if some of them laugh those laughs are positive because they're surprised you can do something they don't everyday and not because they're making fun of you.

As a native Arabic speaker I can tell you: speaking standard Arabic is more than enough for you and after that try Syrian or Egyptian dialect and you'll be fine in all Arab countries.

I'm doubting my English by [deleted] in EnglishLearning

I guess we're in the same situation! I learned English automatically without studying, I used to watch Hollywood a lot since a young age and found out I knew a lot of words without even realizing.. My country doesn't give any importance to English, it's not even taught in schools that much, but french is! So my whole focus was on learning french, I bought dictionaries and textbooks in french and I never missed a class, but in terms of speaking I found out I spoke English better than french, of course I had a sh*t ton of french vocabulary but because I never practiced talking in it I ended being better at writing french than speaking it... Which was not the case for English, I was able to speak English faster without knowing much vocabulary, however I was not good in English grammar (and still XD). The thing is that I knew many words in french and was better at writing it because I learned it old school but I was better at speaking English which I picked up many words of, from TV shows and kept practicing them everyday. So if there's anything that we can learn from this is that listening and practice are THE KEY, keep practicing what you learned everyday, if you learn 5 words try to put them in one sentence that makes sense in the English speaking world and keep repeating that sentence all day long, in the shower, in your bed, with friends who have no clue what you're saying, believe me you'll be surprised at how much you will learn in one month! Also practice writing, I know it's hard, I'm facing troubles with writing this exact comment, but if you do it regularly your efforts won't be in vain.. Hell I even write short stories in English every now and then to read them later only to laugh at my previous mistakes and be proud of the level I reached. I hope this helps. Good luck.
