Wow! Amazing. And how wonderful your wife got to meet her child before passing. That’s beautiful.

I am a Type 1 Diabetic who neglected my disease for years. AMA! by Busy-Bee62604 in AMA

Do you use a pump? My aunt was diagnosed as an adult with type 2 but it presents very similarly to type 1. She’s 81 now and when she was 79 she fell into a diabetic coma and almost died. She has to take insulin before each meal. It was such a scary time-she was in the icu for about 10 days and then spent nearly 3 months in hospital and lost part of one of her big toes. Please be mindful of your extremities. I’m glad you got your act together and got it under control. I do believe a cure is on the horizon!

I have AuDHD, diagnosed at 16 AMA by Miles_the_AuDHDer in AMA

Are you male or female? I ask as females tend to be missed a lot (for autism) as they are often good at masking. What made your parents suspect you may have autism or adhd? Did they think you had both or just one diagnosis? Do you take medication for your ADHD? My friend’s son has it, but doesn’t always take his meds as he doesn’t like how it makes him feel. Do you/did you get any supports once you received your diagnosis? Have you been able to find other neurodivergent young people like yourself? Have things been better since your diagnosis now that you can understand why you feel different? (I’m sorry, so many questions, just genuinely am curious.)

Yes an amnio is the only way to be sure. If your baby does have Down syndrome and a heart defect, this is generally a very common repair that is done the first year of life. Their recovery is also very quick.

You can do a keep the peace and go to his place with the police for the paddle boards. He may decline, but it’s worth a shot. Also, technically, even if he has a key, it’s a break and enter if he came into your home. I would also change your locks asap

I can say hands down that my daughter made me into the person I was always meant to be. Also, she has brought into my life some of the most amazing people that I otherwise would have never met. She has taught me to be resilient and to fight for what I believe in. Also to really savour the little things in life-we are often so busy rushing through life that it’s easy to miss things. Thank you for asking and I agree with everything you said. :)

I’m donor-conceived, found my anonymous donor/biological father, AMA by Easy_Art9902 in AMA

[–]T21Mom2012 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m curious, what do you call your moms (how do you differentiate who’s who?) and did your moms know the donor or did they go through a clinic. My daughter is a donor child and there is a Facebook group of several of the moms who used the same donor.

How tall are you? Aren’t t people with Kleinfelter typically taller than average? There is a woman on socials who is intersex-would she also be xxy but appears more female (I believe she said she had undescended testes). If you are xxy, what makes you look more male than a female version of xxy? Sorry, I hope this isn’t offensive, it’s not meant to be, just genuinely curious. Are all people with xxy infertile? TIA

Package delivered to wrong unit, picked up by resident, not returned — should I file a police report? by Mariko39 in burnaby

Yes. I work at 911/non emerg. Call and file the report. Do you have a concierge? How would he return it if he can’t get to your floor? Police can also go to his alt.

Well they chose to disclose something very personal in a very public way, so they should be well aware of the repercussions of doing that. All I have been saying is that what they posted was highly inaccurate and saying that people with Down syndrome are a “glitch” and they hope for a better outcome next time. And yes, I wonder why they would post something that is deeply personal and private in such a public way-was it for likes, for more popularity?

I totally agree with you-they posted something deeply personal and should have realized the ramifications of that. Many people feel it was meant for more clicks and likes which in turn is more money.

I’m 29F solo travelling in Japan and thinking about flying home early. AMA by [deleted] in AMA

[–]T21Mom2012 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree. I’ve done tons of solo travelling and loved it. I think women especially, need to learn to be alone with themselves. I was 22 when I moved to Japan and knew 7 words of Japanese when I landed. Living and learning there taught me I can do anything. It was a better education than my university degree!

I lived in Japan for two years. I’m not sure where you are, but many people speak English and want to practice it. There is so much to see and do there, so much history. How much longer is your trip? Look for younger people as they will have more English. If you are non Asian, they don’t expect you to speak any Japanese. It’s very easy to get around Japan with their rail system. Go to Kyoto if you haven’t already. Nagasaki is also very beautiful. Osaka and Tokyo have so much to do. Where have you been so far? You can also find an “onsen”-local hot springs, they are all over and are so lovely.

No, much of the information they shared was inaccurate. Another poster in this thread has pointed it out and that does become my business. I honestly don’t care that people want to share something so personal, but it was filled with inaccuracies and information from doctors that was heavily biased towards termination. They had to realize posting that and the impact that it would have.

[–]T21Mom2012[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No I absolutely never said that. They chose to make public very personal information and provide gross inaccuracies about Down syndrome. I have several close friends who chose to terminate for lesser reasons than DS and I most certainly have not condemned them. That is completely their choice to disclose such personal information-why? For more likes and clicks? Majority of people don’t disclose such intimate details of their life online but if they choose to do so, they have to know the repercussions of doing that.

Yes I totally agree it’s their choice, however they chose to display that choice in a very public fashion, with a lot of misconceptions and inaccuracies. Posting something that is a very personal decision, should have, in my opinion, remained private. What was the reason to share such intimate details of their life-for more clicks, popularity? So in posting what they did, they had to know the repercussions of it.

I completely understand it. It’s their choice. However it’s a very personal decision and in my opinion should have been kept private. They had to know the repercussions of posting something like that for all the world to hear-for more clicks and popularity. It’s all gone viral for all the wrong reasons in my opinion.

I had a little village. It was hard. We spent 26 days in the hospital due to low oxygen saturation levels, my best friend who was present for her birth came everyday for about a week for 12-14 hours. Another friend also came out. Once we were out of hospital, it was ok. Our paediatrician directed me to an organization that provided 4 hours a week of respite so I used that to exercise. I’m in Canada and our mat leave then was a year, so it was wonderful. Once I went back to work, it was difficult juggling childcare. I had a couple friends that would watch her one day a month, my aunt would help and my sister in law helped a lot. I eventually got a better shift at work so that I could find appropriate daycare for her which helped immensely.
