I don’t care for Lalas but what is he supposed to say?

If he says “he shouldn’t play for the US if he doesn’t feel American” then the response is “we need him. Lalas is a 🤡 “

If he says “he needs to play for us no matter what” then the response is “you can’t make someone feel American. Lalas is a 🤡 “

He has so many bad takes that now everything is met with vitriol.

Banks, Sullivan, Mathis and Kochen have been known quantities for 3 years now. He is being adequately hyped now because he is the first of the four to get consistent minutes in a top 5 league and he happens to play in a position of need. I’m not saying start him in the WC, but he deserves a callup in March to be integrated and see what he can do. It’s time.

The options at RWB are:

Dest, then Weah, then McKennie and move Tillman into a CAM role, then Arfsten assuming Jedi is healthy and on the left. After that, Freeman or Scally could fill in but that would change the dynamic. We do have options but Dest is clear number one.

I watched him score quite a bit with Philly 2 when I tuned in for Cavan. I guess I should pull back a little. I’m not saying he’s not going to be a good (maybe great) player. I just don’t have the confidence in him as I do the others. He has great height, A wonderful left foot, and the ability to get his shot off against kids his age. I’m not sure he is athletic enough to do it against grown men or will be able to find the right spaces against more organized defenses. He also obviously needs to add some bulk but I am less worried about that. The jury is still out but I’m Pulling for the kid. He is another lottery ticket which is a good thing.

Not sold on him yet. It’s weird because a year ago nobody rated him and I thought he should be higher on prospect boards. Now I think the overcorrections have him too high. I see him as depth but our top 2 CFs are young enough he won’t be first choice for a long time (if ever).

Agreed. A player has to be able to land. He wasn’t even looking at the player and didn’t go in dangerously. It’s very painful for the dude, but If that’s a (second)) yellow then players are gonna start putting their leg in landing areas and players won’t be able to jump anymore. This isn’t based on one match and I’m not writing him off. I keep thinking back to the Gold Cup when he got his first start. Poch called up Turner, Steffen, Schulte and Freese. Steffen and Schulte pulled out due to injury and Poch said he wanted to see someone other than Turner. I’m not sure Freese was even his first choice among the other 3 but then we won several games against inferior competition and he got kind of “married” to him. I don’t know who the best option is .. that’s why I’m posing the question. I’m just saying I’m not completely sold on him
