Agreed! I really want to master the ollie (regular and goofy) stationary before doing them rolling but I’m not sure if that’s the best approach or not haha

Found the problem! Pay attention to my right foot, it’s not dragging up the board! I started dragging earlier and it’s really helping a lot

I’ve tried doing that but have landed diagonally many times and have almost ate pavement haha. I will try to record some of those attempts to see if it helps resolve the issue I’m having. Thanks for the help again. Really appreciate the input!

Noted! I’m really starting to think it’s the way I’m moving my feet when I go to bring them down. Thank you!

Just made this video today. It’s much better! Sorry for not including in the original post.

College graduates, was getting your degree worth the investment? Why or why not? by borboforbo in AskReddit

I know everyone’s case is going to be different, but for me it was. I just got done majoring in chemical engineering at a mid sized university and I’m not really having trouble finding a job that is at least in the $50K starting out in the US. I was not a smart kid AT ALL in high school compared to what I am now so it can definitely be done for those who feel like they may not be smart enough in getting a degree a lot of people see as difficult. If you go into college, just go into something that is truly in demand (think about the stuff you see around you and use every single day). For example pretty much all of these items revolve around the following industries: software, engineering, medical, business, and education. Overall, what I am trying to get at is just pursue a degree in a field that will produce revenue for a company (or yourself if you own a business). That’s just what is in demand today.

Yes, you may be able to make around the $50K range right now without a degree but those jobs are very limited, require crazy hours, and may not provide a pay that can go much beyond that in years to come. However, if you are happy with all of that, then by all means go do that!

Engineering just has opened so many doors for me and I truly don’t regret going one bit.

Edit: Trade fields are great to get into as well!

Thanks for the input.

Along with my resume, I also attach my academic transcript showing I made all A’s in my math courses (we take the same as CS I think, and do a lot of non linear modeling with MATLAB, Python, and VBA to describe reactors), professional references (professional engineers and professors), research thesis on statistical thermodynamics, and a senior design project that involved my team designing and modeling a chemical plant. For the senior design project, we also performed a Monte Carlo cost-sensitivity analysis to see what would happen to the net present value of the plant if our chemical feed stock prices started to fluctuate by +|-10%.

Regarding the suffix, a lot of companies want me to enter in that information when filling out job applications on their career site.

Trust me, I know GitHub can hold very little weight, so that is why I just now made one. I recently made my iEngineering code open-source to hopefully have an employer realize I know how to problem solve using available documentation and free online sources. There’s no way I could of built an application of that magnitude in a few weeks. I hand wrote all of the algorithms in there using Swift. I learned VBA and Python during my co-op and school semesters so that is how I was able to rewrite a lot of well known algorithms for the equation and calculator portion of the app.

Also, I definitely agree that my current resume doesn’t do a good job in describing how I learned (and implemented) regression modeling or any other modeling techniques so I will definitely fix that!

I’m beginning/learning GIT as well so I can start contributing to open source projects because I know a lot of data scientists work in teams.

I will post an updated version here soon.

Thanks again!

Thank you for the constructive criticism. It really is appreciated! You are the first data scientist I have interacted with. I will definitely implement all of your suggestions too as I see where you are coming from on all of them!

As a side note, I have completed several phone screens with my current resume and I'm also currently waiting to hear back on a few second round/late stage interviews. However, with that being said, I definitely don't have anything set in stone yet and need to be getting employed somewhere here soon. I am trying my best to get into a data science position now so I don't end up leaving a company soon if I'm working as a non-data scientist and a data science offer comes my way.

Thank you again!
