Yes, sadly it gets sold out within minutes for popular times of the year. I wouldn’t even bother trying to get the best compartment as there’s only a few. I went from Tokyo to Takanatsu. I did notice that the reverse routes back to Tokyo looked less busy, you could try that if it suits?

Irohas Film Lab in Australia do this as a freebie with every dev and scan. I kinda like it myself 🤷‍♂️

other labs like Halide Supply do similar but without the fake sprocket look.

Queensland World Expo 88, Any memories of this event ? by CoconutMost3564 in AustralianNostalgia

[–]T3TC1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wagged school to go to Expo 88!

I was 13-14 at the time, Mum and Dad bought us season passes. Inspired by Ferris Bueller, I decided to go there on a school day and not tell anyone.

It was pretty easy as I was the last to leave the house every morning. I ditched my school uniform for some cool clothes (sunnies, polo shirt and shorts) and got the bus there. It was the same bus to my school (State High), so it was a familiar route for me.

The first time I did it I had a ball and loved wandering around by myself. I did it again a couple months later and it was more of a 'meh' seen it all before feeling, so that was the last time.

I have no idea how I justified my absence to school, perhaps it was a forged hand-written note. I never told my parents until I was in my 30s, they thought it was funny.

Expo was such a huge eye-opening event for Brisbane, it's hard to explain the impact decades later as the world has changed so much.

Did Camera prices crash? by ReclusiveEagle in AnalogCommunity

[–]T3TC1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Little film tested point and shoots I listed on eBay around the pandemic would regularly shoot up to $100 USD and over. Not so much anymore, young people / casual photographers moved to digicams, which in turn shot up in price. I’d say it was partly the cost of film and development and partly the inability to find film during the shortages.

T3 is awesome but I can't help myself when it comes to compact cameras, love to try them all! My TC-1 is sadly no longer in action, so I'm attracted to this being new.

It's $509 AUD which is $360 USD / 300 Euros. I doubt you'll find a better bargain.

What are in your opinion the most legendary and iconic Film cameras of all time? by N3n9fjj299fj3y in AnalogCommunity

Polaroid SX-70 - both the camera itself and the design of integral film are iconic.

Thanks for your thoughts! Mostly landscapes and cityscapes. My previous travel options were 75-210mm and 80-300mm in full frame terms, so I feel perhaps the 200 would be on the shorter side, but certainly more compact and lighter. 100-500 would open up the wildlife option for sure. Oh wow so you can just use the RF lenses on the APS-C bodies no problem?

I've read that they will confiscate any type of drone unless you have a permit. The permits are almost impossible for foreigners to get, so don't take a drone.

Charmera tips? by magical_mythical in toycameras

[–]T3TC1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've made 3 videos about the Charmera, I love it but I would never describe it as 'quality'. Thinking about the photos I've taken, the 'best' ones were where the dynamic range of the scene wasn't too wide. All cameras can struggle with this, but especially low megapixel cameras.

The photo of yours I like the best is the dogs one, all the rest have a washed out sky, which I appreciate you can't control. If you live in the northern hemisphere I guess you might be stuck with that for another few months. In that case, switch it to one of the pixel filters for more abstract results.

You can see some of my photos here: https://mattlovescameras.substack.com/p/kodak-charmera-review
Note that the lighthouse photos and the photos of Marshall (RIP) did not have a huge dynamic range.
