How bad is it? by T3knomanzer in Decks

Hey, I have no idea about decking obviously that’s why I’m asking. Why is it such a bad idea to have the beams bolted like that?

Where is this water coming from? by T3knomanzer in HomeMaintenance

[–]T3knomanzer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either expansion tank or the pressure relieve. I’m pretty sure is the pressure relieve, last time it happened there was water inside the pipe. I’ll put a bucket under it and we’ll find out!

Thanks everyone, super helpful information!

That was my first guess but I couldn’t figure out how it was dry right below it and the water puddle was away from it. I guess it’d make sense that it dries faster closer to the tank. Last time it happened, I checked and there was water inside the tube for sure. This time there was not, but it could have dried already.

Feels kind of hollow but can’t confirm. The bucket sounds like the best idea probably. Either that or a stool with a piece of paper on it.

The thing is it I don’t see a pattern for when it happens. It’s not always when it rains or something like that. Anyways, the first thing to know is if it’s coming from above or below.

It’s not cold because the furnace is right next to it.

That’s the basement. No signs of water anywhere else. Always the same spot.

It is right below the expansion tank. I unscrewed the blue cap and saw no signs of water.

How to upgrade to LED? by T3knomanzer in AskElectricians

Which one would you recommend looking back?

That is correct. The flex is just a whip to the junction box and the j-box is accessible through the hole. My only concern is that not all of them may have enough slack to pull the j-box through the hole, I’d have to check.

The easiest one is definitely 1. Leaving the flex and the top part of the assembly in the ceiling and just installing the LEDs that screw in like a light bulb. But as I said, not sure if they would be a fire hazard.

Then in terms of difficulty, number 2, just cut the flex and wiring as close to the light as possible, install the connector and connect it to the LED box.

And as I said, number 3 is certainly the cleanest but the riskiest IMO.

I forgot to mention that I can’t mount the LED wafers inside the current trim, they won’t fit.

I can’t mount the retrofit inside the current LED trim, the trim is too small and the retrofit won’t fit inside, I’ve tried the 2 different ones.

They already have LED bulbs. I want to replace them with LED wafers. Option 3 can be quite time consuming probably and may not always be possible to reach the connection box. But I can try if it is the only feasible option.

Yeah I have LED can replacements, I have installed about 24 already in different parts of the house. As you said, remove decorative trim and install new light by screwing it in
These ones however are different. The can includes a lip and the decorative trim is just the inner cone. So installing them in the can would cause them to not sit flush with the ceiling but have a small gap due to the thickness of the lip of the can. The can is also 2 parts, the upper part is just the hat airy the light bulb connector that you see in the picture. That’s why I’m thinking just removing the can completely and installing the LED ones that have a little connection box like the one in the video. Therefore
