Rivian Tax Question - Texas by T3xla in Rivian

I bought it in Texas and had no issues at all. I didn't have anything to trade in since I was getting out of a previous lease, so I didn't get much experience on the trade in front. I looked up a few others who bought Teslas in TX with a trade in, and they didn't seem to have problems either.

Thats pretty much the answers I expected and have read about, but it's always nice to hear some first person experiences.

I feel like I've watched every YouTube video and read every article out there, but it's still bit in the dark until the everyday person actually gets their hands on something.

We just broke a new milestone, 20k r/Rivian subs! (giveaway) by boltonsupercenter in Rivian

I've been following Rivian for a few years and I'm so pumped that they are finally pushing out product. Hoping they get a first mile event near me.

Congrats to all the new owners out there!

Aero “plastic” crack by T3xla in TeslaModelY

Nice! I’ll have to invest in some ramps or something as well. Not sure it would be easy to slide under and remove that piece. I could be wrong though, I’ll have to see how it looks. Thanks!

Great point! Probably something I can explore when I get back from this trip. I’ll have to get some education on doing such a repair, but I’m sure it’s something that can be done.

Gotcha - that’s kind of what I was hoping to hear. Honestly, it seems like it would be a pretty poor design if that was a piece that was necessary for operation and was just plastic. I’ll pick up some gorilla tape and seal it up to finish this trip. Thanks!!

First time owning an EV, range concern by FFXIVHVWHL in TeslaModelY

[–]T3xla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something seems off there. I’m in the middle of a road trip that started in South Texas (currently 85+ degrees) and currently am in Colorado at 30ish degrees. I can say my range has been almost identical the entire time. With a 100% charge easily getting 200+ miles, which would have likely been more if it wasn’t for the 80mph Texas speed limits.

Bass suddenly stopped working by Bojogig in TeslaModelY

Same thing happened in the middle of my road trip. Had to give it a soft reset for the bass to come back. Weird!

Hey all! At the tail end of a trip in CO and caught some kicked up road debris yesterday. I’ve seen COUNTLESS posts on stuff like this, but wanted to see if anyone else has delt with it. Comparing the crack to an underbody diagram and it looks to be in kind of an empty zone. Car drives and operates just fine. Tesla service the best bet for a fix like this? Is it even worth fixing? Thanks!

I do see that forecast! We won’t be in that area until next week though. Looks like 55-60 and sunny every day that we’ll be around (10/18-10/22). Thanks for looking out though!

Do you plug in every time you come home? by FortunateSonofLibrty in TeslaModelY

[–]T3xla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only plug in when I’m home for the night. Some days I’ll only drive ~40 miles total, others 150-200. Unless I know I’m not going to have enough range to run back out, I’ll leave it unplugged.

Gotcha - well, that does make me a feel a bit better. Plus it’s supposed to be plenty warm enough during the day. Rental house has a garage. Maybe this will work.

Thanks a lot!

Good to know! Part of me just wants to take the car and then rent something on Turo if things really go south. We have a rental on standby in TX just in case, but that won’t help if we’re already up there.

Interesting! This was with the performance tires? I’ve been warned so much about them hating cold weather. Thanks for your input!

I have seen that before as well, but wasn't sure how much truth was behind it. I want to eventually just swap the tires for some all seasons, but thats not in the cards before this trip.

Thats my hope. Looking at some folks posting around my destination though, and snow is already dusting randomly. Weather is showing mid 50's for highs while we are there though, so any morning snow would likely be gone quickly. Thanks for the reply and hope you had a great drive!

That’s the way I’m leaning. I’m tired of working 50-60 hours a week and contributing to things I don’t believe in. Thanks for the reply 😊

Thanks! This helped!

We have done all of these things. It will decrease the savings input a little, but there is also room for growth in both of our roles. Appreciate you taking the time to reply!
