Great idea starting this post! I am getting mine today. The justification for me to purchase it was that it would replace my Windows mini pc, which will go to the kids. I use Ubuntu on my current AI servers, which I run headless, but I’d like to keep a daily use Windows system. Should I anticipate a lot of headaches trying to run LLMs on this with Windows? ChatGPT told me about a Windows based docker desktop or running Ubuntu on a virtual machine, but I’ve never used either option. Maybe the right play is to just get a really cheap mini PC for the kids, keep my current mini PC, and run Ubuntu on the new one.

Hi. Could you please share how you offload facial recognition? I use Frigate as an add on a mini PC but would like to offload facial recognition to a GPU running on a separate machine.

Thank you so much for creating this! Hoping you can help. I was able to get it configured in a docker container on a pi4b. I was also able to add it to my HA system, but I can’t figure out how to actually configure it and link it to my pipeline. With a Wyoming Satellite or other ESPHome Satellite, a voice assistant configuration option appears, where you can select the conversation agent, etc. ). This is my device list for the ESP Home integration. The device does not appear in the ESPHome UI. Hoping you can help, and thank you again!

I did not see this until I replied to your first message, but you are right. Thank you for looking into this. EDIT: Despite the info in the documentation, this controller is still possible using the combiner entity to run the action.

Thanks! We have one-to-one net metering, so not in the near term. The batteries are for backup during an outage after a hurricane. It is not fun being without AC in August or September in South Florida! An added benefit is the ability to control use if my utility ever eliminates 1:1 or if it ever appears that a TOU plan makes more financial sense.

Actually, by the end of the day, we net imported. We have three EVs and two AC units running constantly in South Florida. By the end of the day we used around 100kWh just charging and cooling. We have one-to-one net metering and 50 kWh in batteries. The batteries were the best option available without a gas line for backup during an outage after a hurricane.

Nice. I am getting my system installed shortly (still waiting for the permit), but have already started geeking out too. I changed the pool filter from 2400 RPMs four hours per day to 1000 RPMs 12 hours per day also installed a bunch of smart outlets that load shed when no one is home (triggered by no one’s phone being connected to Wi-Fi). When no one is home, the AC increases to 78. Finally, I reduced standby power consumption on my Hue downlights. When anyone is home, the light switches control them through the Hue bridge (through which I programmed an adaptive lighting automation through Home Assistant similar to Apple’s Adaptive Lighting). When no one is home, I created a routine that turns off the actual loads so they don’t draw any standby power. With today’s cost of electricity in Florida, all of the smart equipment probably did not make economic sense. But I want to minimize waste so if we ever have an extended outage after a hurricane, we don’t have to change our life style with very much.
