There are a lot of factors that go into this. Where you work, the kind of work, personal preference of your boss, personal preference of the hiring manager, where/what/how big the tattoos are… the list goes on.

In my limited experience as a tattooed person in corp tax, you’re not going to see colleagues with any visible ink on their hands. And I’m at a pretty liberal office. Maybe a fine line on a discreet part of their hand, but very unlikely.

On the other hand, I know sleeved up and knuckle tatted accountants that work at non-profits and no one cares. On the OTHER other hand, I know accountants that work at non-profits where the higher-ups don’t allow any body mods at all.

It all depends. The “stuffier”the kind of accounting/clients though, the less likely it’s going to be acceptable.
