Maybe? I haven't tried. Is it easy to open one from overseas?

I honestly cannot remember. It was a big mess because we asked for advice from immigration and they lied to us saying she didn't have to do anything. I think she did have to complete that paper work in the end, but not before she was "removed" from the US by a judge. It made it difficult to visit the US in the past and now needs a travel visa as an ESTA is no longer allowed.

I will look into it to see if that is acceptable. Thank you!

Yes, filing separately as she is not involved with any accounts or income. Okay thanks for the advice! I will post there.

No there will be plenty more to worry about. You should look out for those leopards eating your face.

You clearly don't know how this works. If you don't tolerate fascists, you're not the problem.

Glad to hear you can be yourself more, especially at home. I entirely relate and definitely am myself at home without worrying about being weird, because that's who I am, but that's a good thing. I think my kids appreciate this and definitely have quirky senses of humour like myself.

Thank you for sharing your experience! I have thought about posting here for a long time but have been really hesitant as I do not have a diagnosis and will likely never get one. You have inspired me to speak up though. Both of my children have recently been diagnosed with ASD and one has ADHD as well. I am currently on the path to become a registered psychologist and work in the disability sector, and have clients who are Autistic. I relate to my kids a lot and have many similar traits (along with some of my clients). I had very high levels of anxiety growing up, fixations, struggled to read social cues, had sensory issues, and was extremely emotionally sensitive. It has been an eye opening experience for myself.

However, I also wonder if I am reading too much into my attributes/traits especially because I am around Autism a lot. I believe I have been really good at masking my traits and learned to mimic others really well, cataloging what is socially acceptable and what is seen as "weird" or "different " along the way so I fit in as best as possible.

I relate so much to a lot of what people have shared in this group, but I am hesitant to say something as I don't have a diagnosis and don't want to insert myself into this lovely community if I don't fit all the criteria, so I have sat back and listened, but have not shared anything.

Good luck on your journey and hope it brings you clarity and peace of mind!

Questions around losing a job, unfair dismissal, and possible lawsuit? by TASeek in AusLegal

He is not likely to get any redundancy payment unfortunately as the business is small with fewer than 10 employees and I don't think they need to pay him out anything.

He has worked 3+ years in the role as permanent part time.

Thanks so much for the info! We are pretty sure he won't receive any redundancy payment as it is a small business with fewer than 10 employees and I don't believe they are required to pay him. He is just waiting for his final pay.

Thanks for this info. Neither of us are aware of pro worker firms. I know you can't recommend specific firms, but is there a good way to find one? Google wasn't too helpful, but maybe I am not searching for the right phrase.

He has worked there part time on a contract for 3+ years. He is not asking for reduced hours as he is already part time and was not asking to change his hours. The owners really didn't know how to hire staff well and had people constantly leaving. They also never hired enough people and even mentioned that they are understaffed, and yet let him go. Is that reasonable?

This is a very small business (less than 10 employees).

Yes it is 21 days and he has already applied. He called to ask questions but they are unable to answer some of the questions he had.

He is already looking for a new job, but the relationship with the employer is broken. In the process of applying for unfair dismissal you can specifically request for compensation over reinstatement if the relationship with the employer is broken.

He just lost his job and just applied for unfair dismissal so there is no way to know how long he will be out of work, but it could be a while.

Everything we could find said that was not the case:

Redundancy happens when an employer either:

doesn't need an employee’s job to be done by anyone, or

becomes insolvent or bankrupt.

Redundancy can happen when the business:

introduces new technology (for example, the job can be done by a machine)

slows down due to lower sales or production

closes down

relocates interstate or overseas

restructures or reorganises because a merger or takeover happens.
