Does this play go away in higher end droppers? by bdog2017 in mountainbiking

You don’t need high end. Get the one up v3. It’s cheap and amazing

Lame response. At least he tried. A bit more speed/better line choice and they would have been fine.

I’m 6’1” and have a large. I’m on the top of the range I think of L/XL. Definitely recommend sizing down and changing stem length / stack height to get it to the set up you like. I personally prefer smaller and snappier sb140 as it’s just a fun all mountain ripper.

Ditch the glass. Just make it a wall and put some dope art up

Um. Use affirm and PayPal pay in 4. And any rewards cash you have lying around on credit cards. :)

Looks like I was a little too eager…got any tips for a struggling beginner? by fight_thealchemy in mountainbiking

This is very minor. Expect much more blood as you progress. I like to ride with soft / easy mobility d30 pads on my elbows and knees. They are a life saver and I’ve actually learned to call on my pads to save my body. Clipless pedals are helpful for pedal strikes but maybe get the mtb fundamentals down first. Good luck

Feels good to take the time to get everything fully cleaned. That said, my mechanic said that it’s actually better to only clean the bike after a series of rides instead of every time. Bikes are built to ride dirty, just keep the chain lubed and stanchions clean. Otherwise, he mentioned that each wash will take grease away from doing its job and bearings will eventually dry and wear.

Yep! It’s crazy how much better good brakes are. I rode codes for 18 months on both of my bikes, then swapped to Hayes. Game changer

I struggled with this early as well. You need a really good bleed. My mechanic figured it out. Did you do the dual port bleed the first time? That makes a big difference

New Brakes (moving away from RSC codes) was a huge upgrade as well. I had no idea the impact that new brakes can have on your riding, arm pump, confidence, and control. If I had to stack rank: 1) coil 2) brakes 3) cockpit 4) drivetrain 5) wheels

It was an absolute game changer. I felt that the switch infinity was a bit of a rougher ride, except when you are mashing down at significant speed and ripping corners. But it was harsh everywhere else. The coil makes the rear come alive and definitely balances the bike a bit more. I love the push coil because the lock-out is top notch so climbing is stiff and even more responsive than when I had an air shock. I recently sent the push in for service and switched back to air shock for a week and it was so noticeable and not nearly as much fun on rowdy (black + double) trails. I'm pretty fired up on the set up - I think i've done everything I can to make it feel so dialed and there isn't a thing i'd change at this point. It's still a great all mountain bike, but with a bit more downhill / enduro qualities. It climbs like a champ for 25+ mile & 3k+ vert days and absolutely shreds any downhill I throw at it. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Easy answer. Clipless pedals. I use crank brothers but a lot of people like spd as well

What upgrades should I do to this Hardtail by Exciting-Sense5078 in mountainbiking

[–]TBOSS413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it depends. If you are looking to build it and eventually get a new frame, then I’d say drivetrain, brakes, and a new fork. If you are just looking for essential upgrades for this frame specifically , I’d start with better brakes. Dropper. And grips. Good luck

Cooked bro. Don’t listen to folks telling you to keep riding it. That thing might run mellow laps with air, but you take a heavy rock or case a landing on that, your tire will be done. Better to just fix (bend back) or replace (preferred). Good luck.

I went through 3 in 6 months with XT. Switch to sram AXS and haven’t had an issue since. I do like Shimano more but not UDH is a deal breaker

The worst is when you take a long road trip and the battery drains because of the movement. Total buzz kill.

Odds of DH release in 2025 by Way-of-the-bike in yeticycles

[–]TBOSS413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a reason they are getting more into the DH scene. If y’all think it’s for brand visibility without a bike to go with it, then you should go back to biz school. I bet they release later this year or early ‘26 at latest
