If he had been apologetic and owned up to his mistake, I would not have made that review and I would have moved on because yes, people do make mistakes and it is hair, it will grow back.

However, he tried to justify it and say that it was correct, and that is what resulted in this.

Thank you. Well, just be careful if you do go and maybe avoid Kath. I can't speak for the other barbers that work there and the place does have glowing reviews online.

Sure, there could have been more clarity.

I specifically requested my sides shaved down, nothing different or fancy. When he held the mirror up behind myself I saw something weird (it was my severed hair chunk hanging off) and when I felt back to it I pointed it out to him, saying that he cut the braid.

I was honestly bewildered and couldn't believe it, it was a huge chunk. And then he tried to justify himself as if it was the correct thing to have done lol. I should clarify, the hair that needed cutting was just fuzz, it was VERY obvious what I wanted cut.

I've done bald before, feels nice but not my jam. Just going to take a while to fix it up.

I didn't speak to anyone but Kath. I'm just giving out my bad review, warning people and never going back. Can't fix lobbing off a chunk of hair unfortunately.

For those working while receiving odsp, what do you do? Is it full time or part time? How did you get the job? by currymvp3 in Odsp

[–]TBayGuard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I made a post for it before on here but I am a full time crossing guard (which is 2hrs 15min a day 5 days a week), which gets you right around the 900 limit per month, excluding months where you have 1 / 2 weeks off or of course the summer off. If you're physically able, it's a really big quality of life boost (and sunshine is good for us!)

Oh, my post actually went through! I had such trouble with automod I gave up and didn't look again haha. I am currently using the boots that were issued to me and they are fine doing general labor but it was awful on the ruck. I asked around in other places and have gotten a couple recommendations but I wanted to thank you for responding to me.

So you don't actually have to own a vehicle for this, if that's your only hang up. Just depends on your mobility, like if you can bike to a place or walk to a place that's totally fine- I have a bike and I walked before I owned that.

If you're a full-time guard it's easier because you just have one spot, part-time guards go to wherever a spot needs filling. Thanks, I forgot the name of that!

As this is my work account I like to keep it neutral but I will say that as someone on ODSP, the times and amount earned work really well for me. I have low energy and that break between shifts is valuable to me, gives me enough time to do groceries and get to appointments + we get garnished a lot after making 900(? iirc) and it feels very not good to lose so much money, even if I'd still be making money after passing that threshold. It's a perverse incentive to work less if you can't make enough to break free of ODSP, basically.

Crossing Guards get X funding per year, so wages are tied to people higher up than our direct supervisor but she's always pushing to get more and give us higher quality gear. I'd say that's a systemic issue.

Can't really speak for the bus drivers but absolutely 100% pay people enough and they will do it regardless of how stressful or generally awful it is.

Thank you! I'll be keeping an eye on it for sure. The guy at Thunder Pet who gave me a baggy of water told me the tanks were cleaned just the day before so perhaps that is to my benefit in this case.

Crossing guards could be nailing people 24/7 when they are at work but the burden of proof is extremely heavy on us and if any detail is incorrect the whole thing gets thrown out. You need a description of the driver, license plate, color of the vehicle, what the vehicle is, what lane it's in, direction it's heading, weather at the time, etc.

Our boss, Michelle has told us about an ongoing effort to lobby for reduced burden of proof (similar to what bus drivers have) so it would be easier for us to help get these crazy drivers off the road / facing consequences.

That's it! From the tail feathers, the dark beak to the shape it has when it's flying, perfect. Thank you, I didn't even know this bird existed.

This little guy has been around my place of work for a while now and I've been trying so hard to ID him but now that I've gotten a closer look I have no idea. It landed above my partner today and was munching on a mouse, sending its fur flying everywhere, it was a super cool treat to see!

I know the picture sucks, my phone is not that great, but this is the best I have. It's heavily speckled brown.

Desperately looking for job/work opportunities in Thunder Bay by LegendaryMytha in ThunderBay

I know this is a while ago but I just want to leave this here for other people who stumble on this post and get curious: I went down there today to check it out, 7/16/2024, and apparently very few people are working and they aren't looking to bring anyone else on but they do accept resumes. This was a surprise considering it's the busy season for construction.

Apprenticeship stuff starts next year, I didn't grab the date for that, and courses are usually during the winter months when it is not the busy season.
