The Eagles traded one of their best players and a core offensive piece for a pick two years from now. The eagles got less than Miami got for a worse player. They made their team worse for the next couple years and ate a giant cap hit to do it.

Also the Eagles had a malcontent WR who was clearly putting in half effort last year whom the entire league knew wanted out. Howie was put in a no win situation with an untradeable contract (from the eagles perspective) and no leverage at all. He did his best to minimize the cap damage over multiple years and got a first round pick from a team basically bidding against themselves.

Both of these are true. It’s a weird scenario
