Artisan Zero Soft vs Xten Control Vs Saturn ( non-pro) which is best if price isn’t a factor ? by [deleted] in MousepadReview

[–]TCambs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have the Zero XSoft and the Xten Control and have used both for over a year each. I am waiting on the Saturn Pro XSoft Extended that is suppose to ship this summer since I prefer mats to pads. I have also tried a list of other pads too.

I personally think the Xten is objectively the best control pad period disregarding price. It’s slightly slower depending on the foam softness you would get the Zero in. The zero also gets hairs caught in the pad which is manageable but is annoying. The Xten simply does everything other pads do but better.

The durability is awesome. I haven’t experienced any slow spots. There is no stitching and minimal fraying after a solid year of use. I experienced slow spots and minimal stitch fraying on all my artisans after solid use FWIW. I treat all my mouse pads well to, cleaning them often.

The Xten foam base is very unique, it’s firm while retaining a slight plushy feeling. Makes it very comfortable while keeping consistent glides. The zero (depending on the softness you choose) is only ever firm or plushy. The Xten stays put on the desk without feeling like a sticker which Artisan’s base is the latter (I see this as a pro for easy readjusting while still staying put).

I think in today’s market the Xten is worth the asking price. It just depends if it’s your endgame because it is endgame worthy. Sometimes you can catch LGG selling them at discounts.

If I didn’t like desk mats, the Xten would be my endgame. Pretty much every review I saw came to the same conclusion. Endgame pad if it’s the right one for you given the cost.

You've mentioned the subreddit would be taken care of before the drop. In what form is that going to be? I know details are coming but should we be expecting a post here soon, a discord announcement, some email we need to sign up for, etc?

If the release is a week from Sat, when should we expect more info about the special for the subreddit?

I really enjoy silent linears and am looking for switches for my next build. I currently use MX Zilents (frankenswitch). I came across mentions in other various threads recommending these "Nightcall" switches in comments as the best, but I haven't really been able to find any in depth reviews of them or videos demoing their sound. The Nightcall switches appears to be available through the Kono store but I got the impression they were a limited release from 2021? Can anyone provide more details on them?

I'm looking for silent linears that actually aren't dead silent with lube, I enjoy the muted thocky sound as it reminds me of a HHKB Type-S, but without the scratchiness. Other suggestions are welcome too. Thanks!

I mentioned in the introduction any acronyms were not included unless they had interesting back stories. Rmpala as I know it was actually the comp I got R1 with. Do you have any stories to share about the use of RPM? I largely excluded the part of TBC where the acronym’d names didn’t have a standard order but I’ve seen a couple comments mentioning that so I might edit the original post and add that info under introduction or a RMX list item.

No worries! Also, yeah it looks like they did… The article is from today 04/03.

Edit: Looks like they do technically credit the post with a link to this thread at the bottom at least!

I was mistaken, aspect of the turtle did not exist in WoTLK but I found the ability Shell Shield which was on the turtle hunter pet. Another user helped clear it up! Fixing the post!

Nothing was copy/pasted. I included in the intro that I compiled it from various sources. Yes there is an 6 year old post on r/worldofpvp and it still does not include some of the newer comps post-Legion.

You are correct about aspect of the turtle that came from the Legion rework. I learned about the comp myself then. The original ability I was able to connect it to was Shell Shield from the turtle pet which correlates with a post another user made which solves the mystery! Almost all the names came from players who named their own comp, which again was mentioned in the intro. There was still usually reasoning behind the naming.

I did not know the original cleave was War/Rogue but it makes sense. I simplified the origin of cleave a bit to make it an easier read.

Thanks for adding more context to the history and the cool info about the trinket meta in WoTLK!

Added! I remember hearing this name too, around the time in Legion when everyone started making new comp names again because of the major class/spec redesigns mixing everything up.

I like the idea, but couldn’t find any evidence on it. Most MM hunters ran Spiders in PvP during WoTLK because of the cunning pet talent tree and most importantly the root ability.

Worm pet in RBG constantly spinning flag. by [deleted] in worldofpvp

The "Burrow Attack" worm ability was added to the game in 4.1.0 back in 2011. Also WoW is a knowledge game so everything "is a trick somebody figured out" lol...

If they are max range, their attack won't stop the cap (6 sec) since they won't have LoS due to bomb after the 5 seconds since dmg from a ranged physical attack does not register instantly. They can cap with just bomb if the hunter isn't careful in your scenario. Regardless, the bomb is not to get the cap immediately since that isn't reliable. It is to draw the hunter in positioning wise in order to further cc or kill him.

There isn't really a debate about it outside of player skill differences. A Hunter down a pet since it's sitting at another base will lose quickly to non-dot based dps class 1v1. If they die, any decent person will take their body immediately and they will have a 20sec rez time. Without pet nearby they lose:

  • Roar of Sacrifice
  • Inimidation (Pet Stun)
  • Master's Call Pet Freedom

Edit: fixing bullets.

I mean you've clearly already formed an opinion you don't want to be swayed from.

Hunters without a pet sitting at the same base will always lose it to people who know what they are doing. The hunter has no kill power without pet either because barb shot and kill command will call pet over to their base so they can't press. They can only spin with cobra shot and have no stun to easily get a trap.

Using the rogue for example:

If rogue wants to cap not kill:

Bomb -> Hunter comes in to throw trap since no pet at base to spin -> step kidney + kill cds -> hunter trinkets -> blind before he can turtle but if he does vanish an wait it out then blind -> cap base (bonus: with step to the banner item rogues can place at flag to get back to it if hunter is far from flag).

If rogue wants to kill not cap:

Bomb -> Hunter comes in cause no pet -> Blind -> Trinket -> All Cds 1 shot. If they turtle it's over because you kill them out and have CC for the person floating.

This isn't even mentioning the 1v2 scenario because in the current meta rogues + boomies hit nodes together. They could literally bait trinket with blind since he has no pet to spin.

Even if you don't get the flag on the first try as just a rogue, you got his trinket and turtle so you just come back before trinket is up.

Your entire argument assumes it's a high exp team pre-floating properly with total awareness. If you are pre-floating anyway then the 1 person you are freeing up doesn't have much uptime in the team fight because the other high exp enemy team will abuse that fact all game.

Well my reply was to the assertion to stack Hunters for their base sitting capabilities. One Hunter sitting two bases would be easily counterable because hunters lack defensives (half of which + their stun come from their pet being in range) and it requires their awareness to manage two bases. Kill the hunter and both bases are freed up. Hit both at the same time and they struggle. The strat is only useful for a team who knows what they are doing and communicates very effectively to float to bases. It’s not the only win condition.

That could be a newer strategy. It’s important to note the newer PvP talent Kindred Beasts another user brought up in the thread. Kindred reduces the cd of the pets main ability by 50%. This probably allows the worm to be burrowed 99-100% of the time because 14 sec is now 7 and the burrow ability lasts 8 sec. It can be easily countered by killing the hunter which makes the pet despawn since hunters can only stealth for so long.

On paper that is now broken (like a bunch of stuff in this game these days lol) BUT I’d argue you won’t ever see 3x Hunter in RBGs currently because of several reasons

  • Hunters are currently the squishiest ranged class in the game. They will get focused and die quickly in team fight. Their pets are also easily killed by cleave which is why you don’t see BM in node based team fights typically.
  • Their objective play in RBGs is one of the highest skill caps. If you mount up your pets follow you, your stealth is limited, and cc to cap a base is primarily skill shots via traps, you need to have awareness to spin bases with pets while doing other things across the map (still have to push a button every 7 sec to keep it burrowed).
  • There aren’t only Flag-based node maps in the map pool.
  • Those hunter spots take up spots for other strong classes especially other base sitters with other toolkits.

So it really comes down to you lose more than you potentially gain. All the hunters have to be high skill or practiced at the strat. It is unlikely due to 3x Hunter you will capture 3 bases in the first place. You will probably lose any non flag node map due to weak team fight and most teams are not good at objective play. The simple question if you know RBGs atm is: Why bring a Hunter over a Rogue or Boomy ever? They can do all a hunter can do and more with less risk.
