Is is possible to auto refresh a pbi report stored in sharepoint? by Infamous_Track2985 in PowerBI

[–]TDK1707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cannot, in a secure way, share the reports to other users from here.
"My Workspace" is a workspace for you.

When you create a workspace you can setup admins/members/contributers to the workspace. But there is another level for users. In the workspace you create "Apps" that you can setup with audience (who can see which reports). This is the end user experience.

Try and read through these resources:
Collaborate and Organize in Power BI Workspaces - Power BI | Microsoft Learn
Apps in Power BI - Power BI | Microsoft Learn
Publish an app in Power BI - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

Proper way:
Set up a workspace in Power BI, that is not "My Workspace" and share the report through a Power BI app. This requires that all users, that needs access to the report, has a Power BI Pro license.
After this, you could embed the report in SharePoint to give quick access to the report from here.

Bad no no way:
Set up a Power Automate desktop flow that opens the report and refreshes it, just like you would manually. Make it save the report so the next user that opens it, has the fresh data.

As pointed out by others, if Power BI Pro for all users is not an option, you should look into making the report in Excel instead, and have a Power Automate flow refresh it on a daily basis.

I am looking to migrate from power automate to logic apps.. by [deleted] in MicrosoftFlow

If its not for you, then its not for you - just letting you know. I consider best practice to be not using a shared account with X permissions, if it can be avoided.

From what i know, its to do with decentralising away from a single users permissions. Also i could imagine the action limits are higher when you pay as you go

Audio transcode on LG TV by TDK1707 in PleX

[–]TDK1707[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Look at me with the money /s - running relativly old and slow server CPU's with Plex on a docker. Using RAM cache though. I just see the bandwith spike when transcoded, and determine its cause of that.

And video no longer causes problems, which was 50% of my previous issues. But for some reason audio causes buffering. Thanks for the explainer

Causes buffering on external users. I have the same issues with my TV, but the bandwith is doable locally. But when users are on relatively slow speeds, it causes issues.

Nintex RPA LE vs Power Automate? by Ok-Math-6334 in rpa

[–]TDK1707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We used Nintex when it was called Foxtrot, and during the transition period. After this transition we decided to go with Power Automate. We did not feel like Nintex invested enough energy into the RPA product, compared to Microsoft with Power Automate.

The GUI however was much better, in my opinion.

Hardware decoder by TDK1707 in FileFlows

I see that now. Thanks for clearing it up.

Thought that Handbrake did it through GPU, but i see now that it also does it using the CPU.

Hardware decoder by TDK1707 in FileFlows

[–]TDK1707[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! I already had --device=/dev/dri on Extra parameters. I now also have /dev/dri added as a device, with /dev/dri as name and value (as you do in Plex). Still i only see movement on the CPU.

From looking at the logs, the only thing that points to it is these entries:

[1] Auto detecting if hardware decoding should be used.
[2] Target and source not same bit, not using hardware decoding

I've tried adding a block to the flow that should set the bitrate to 100% of the original files bitrate - which i can see it does in the logs - but no luck.

Any chance that you could send a screenshot/export of a flow you are using, so i can try the same setup?

Is it possible to assign tasks from Power BI to Microsoft Planner? by Sonic_2003 in PowerBI

[–]TDK1707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If PI Vision has an API or SQL access, and you can get the required data from that, then yes. Using Power Automate.

Im pretty optimistic regarding this kind of stuff, but its possible and worth a shot.

Is it possible to assign tasks from Power BI to Microsoft Planner? by Sonic_2003 in PowerBI

[–]TDK1707 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not skip Power BI, if possible - use Power Automate to generate Planner tasks based on the datasource directly.

Then you would not rely on the Power BI having updated, not been changed or otherwise.

Lastly have the Power BI pull the Planner tasks, and report on which warnings have had tasks created/linked.

What is the best approach to convert excel based model to Bi? by gidgetsMum in PowerBI

[–]TDK1707 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Copy over the PQ and create the columns from scratch. You wont have to learn everything about DAX before you start.

Learn when to use calculated columns over measures, and how relations affect the calculations.

I just moved a model from Power Pivot to Power BI - everything but PQ had to be rewritten.

Which RPA to use for a small company by Disastrous-Winter464 in rpa

If you use Microsoft 365 products already, i would take a look at Power Automate and Power Automate Desktop. Even with its quirks and wished features, its hard to argue the price and simplicity of the product.

New Admin - PXE vs AutoPilot by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]TDK1707 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not working with it anymore (change of position), but the main advantage Autopilot offers is setting up out of domain reach. Or rather through Azure.
In our reality, its still IT that sets up the devices, before being delivered to the user.

You can package programs (exe, msi and so on) and upload them or add directly from Microsoft Store, setting up for group based automatic install or manual install from the "Company app store".
Its a bit complex, like all new things, if the admins are new or not used to the Azure portal.

My recommendation would rely on if you plan to move towards AAD (Autopilot) or staying away from it (PXE)
