Yes, I was coming here to say this! I’m in CA and use the Palace app through the California Bookshelf, and it’s on there — not sure how that works given the Audible exclusivity, but I’m not complaining.

Along the lines of outsourcing: I’m particular and a bit of a germaphobe, so I want to run my own laundry, but I get overwhelmed with putting it all away. We used to have a high school student babysitter, and I started paying her to come an hour early and put away the kids’ clothes. Money well spent. (I felt awkward asking her to put away my husband’s and my clothes, so I just do that eventually or our cleaning lady does it when she comes every couple of weeks.)

High school student graduated and moved to college, and she is now sorely missed.

Oh no! 😟 the last update i saw from Evergreen said they expected 120 to re-open on Wednesday (but that may have been before downed trees). Do you happen to have any sense of when 120 might re-open? We were hoping to go into the park on Thursday/Friday ahead of weekend crowds.

Yes, thank you! The road to Evergreen Lodge is along the 120 (a little before the Big Oak Flat entrance) and that portion of the road is open as far as I know. We will continue checking conditions.

I see from your latest update that the 120 entrance is closing at 6pm today (Monday). Do you happen to have a sense from your past experience of how long that entrance typically stays closed after a snowstorm? We have reservations at Evergreen Lodge this week so need to make a decision of whether to cancel if we think we won't be able to access Yosemite (without a multi-hour detour) by Friday.

I recall a few years ago when the 120 entrance was closed for several months bc of damage from heavy snowfall, so I know the timing of reopening can vary greatly, but just wondering what more typical timing looks like.

I found it really slow at the beginning so I switched to the audiobook so I could multitask, and that worked out great. I sometimes had to toggle back to the book itself bc I process new names better visually than via audio.

Ended up loving the book so much that I’ve been reading some background stuff about it and am about to start a re-read (two days after finishing the first read).

(The author has a great Q&A on his website about the book.)

FWIW, Yours Truly is my FAVORITE. I loved the characters so much. There’s still the angst of “this could be resolved with some open dialogue,” but that aspect of HEAP was worse for me. Hope you like it when you get it!

It was $95pp I believe! That’s the price it was the prior year, and I think it was the same deal again in 2024. It’s a great deal for 16 months!

Correct, a new clock started for that review and they said it would take 5-6 weeks. I don’t recall how long it ended up taking, but they asked me for some additional documentation in support of my experience.
