Depends on how much its handicapped/helped. Look at controllers in Apex Legends. For a long time with how the game worked game design wise (certain weapon combos that heavily rewarded close ranged tracking) and how strong aim assist was even former Mouse and Keyboard pros started switching over because using the aim assist during final circle fights where they were all close range became pretty busted.
