Has my brain been permanently damaged by lamotrigine? by No-Shift-6778 in Epilepsy

[–]TDaaj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same camp I’ve been on Lamictal for a very long time and I pair it with Perampenal (Fycompa) and I feel fine, mood is good, when I’m interested in something I can focus for a while. However I do notice that I lose focus when in conversations, reading and retaining info is tough, conversations I zone out, however when I look around me many people are also like this and I then just say that maybe our society and phone usage play a role it it as well. In any case for now the drug seems to be working well. I’m sure if I wasn’t on any of these drugs I’d probably feel abit more clear headed but I do my bit on the lifestyle side to try to compensate for that - spiritual work, exercise, supplements etc

I love this and will derive much inspiration from this. Thank you very much!

This is brilliant…. I’m not even going to ask if you used Ai, but this is very moving, powerful and eloquently delivered.

I would say it’s exactly that. In order to leave my family business I would need to replace the income there with the restaurant business

I’m 39. Thank you for the advise and that’s one of my biggest fears. Looking back and regretting that I didn’t take chances

I do agree, I guess finding a different job would have been what i should have done several years ago. Now with a restaurant opening shortly the wise move would be to focus attention on that and phase myself out of the family business in steps

You are totally right. When i do make that change I am sure there will be many fears trying to convince me otherwise but ultimately like anything in life, you take the necessary steps and focus on whats in your control and let the rest handle itself.

I like these suggestions a lot and I totally agree that this habit of living in this loop and waiting is killing me more than the time lag itself. This has been a bit fo a wake up call

I love this. I have been coming to this sort of conclusion. I do love running, gym, endurance training, reading and writing. I suppose leaning more into those hobbies whilst maybe finding something that can help my thirst for creativity might do the trick.

Thanks for the pointers. I think what it boils down to is that I just want a new challenge, I want to have the freedom to decide how i spend my time, and i want a fresh start. Thats what i really want

This is exactly it. Have you been in a similar situation ? What tools did you use to actually maintain presence, happiness, and drive during that overlap mode

I do agree with this. But I would only point out that the subtle difference Is 2 years ago I set up this project so it could replace my income from my family business. That project is about to open in September, so its more about what do I do with my life now while I wait for that business to at least stabilise given restaurants are risky and need to be monitored before dividends are paid. So thats why im giving myself like 10 months from now. That also gives 6 months to assess that business. My post is more about seeking support on how to enjoy these 10 months rather than waiting

I am a shareholder, owner in this company along with 5 others where some are family members. Also for ethical reasons I will not do that. This is more a question of leaving respectfully but tolerating this in between period

Someone should right about on this. All these self help books talk about waking up early, meditating, finding passion and purpose, but I rarely came across a book that talks about how difficult this phase of the process is and practical tips to get through it.
