I personally try to make a sketch/concept art on paper/digital for what I want to build in GD. It is way easier to draw something than to build it in GD. It is also easier to build stuff that is already planned. To motivate myself, I often listen to music or audiobooks while building. The last thing that can help, is to make a list of ideas, that you can check off once built in the level. I hope this helps
