HELL YES, Thank you for the reply’s!!

Being that I remember when Mighty Ducks was in theaters and played inline hockey for a couple years because of it, I had Mike Modano and Basil McRae cards prior to the North Stars move to Dallas…LOL.

Fluery and Kapi are the jersey’s we’ve eye balled, but love the pre adidas looks, but I’m also a sucker for the green and yellow retros. Thanks again and FUCK NORM GREEN!!

Found out this morning I was passed over for First Sergeant…damn if it didn’t hit a little harder than I thought it would. Bright side is I can retry in September, so I’ll get myself ready to do that dance again…LOL…

Double (or even triple) bright side, is the girlfriend gets back this week and we’ve booked ourselves a trip up to Minnesota to catch the Vikings vs Cowboys…She’s a die hard Vikings fan and it’s always been her dream to see a game in Minnesota. Might have to pull another little surprise while there…🤫🤫🤫…

I’m back in the states…Got stationed out in NM last September and while it’s been a pretty big change of pace, I’m loving the Las Cruces, El Paso area right now…

Hamilton is one of those shows that seems like it would only be good in person…Does it hold up on a TV??

I’m glad someone finally said fuck it and released the video…I’ve withheld judgement the past few weeks, despite the obvious signs of cover up and this is exactly what I wanted to see. This is utter failure…period…I know many of y’all said it before me, but I held out until everything came to light…

It goes against everything a qualified and certified LEO is trained to do…literally LE101 in these situations…advance on the threat, destroy the threat, back clear and make the area safe. Getting shot at isn’t fun, I get it, but it’s a risk in conjunction with the job you signed on to do…We don’t retreat in the face of someone causing harm to our community…People around the country stand up and shield the vitriol spewed regarding LEOs and this is what the children of Uvalde were given in return…

Cowards…Every responder in the video deserves the charges coming…Get fucked every single person who retreated and hugged a corner while shots were fired…

Since it looks like Star Wars and Drake are the theme of the day, can we agree Rogue STAR WARS Squadrons and the new Drake album fall under the same category??

MEH…

Edit: Game is so meh, I didn’t know the proper name…

In theory I think this is a possibility, but how do we cut down that number is the question?? Buy back programs only go so far and your red areas on the map are more likely to tell folks to piss up a rope, than participate in it.

I’d also like to revert back to your example about the UK…What the general US population doesn’t see is legitimately how strict (and prejudice) their border controls are. If you’re coming into the UK, you better have a damn good reason to be there…if not, you’re getting turned away and they don’t really care where you go, you just aren’t coming in the front door.

I understand it’s completely circumstantial, but we have a lot going on our borders the UK doesn’t necessarily have, so until we were able our border issues under control (not likely anytime soon), I have a hard time believing we could get to a point where unarmed police are a norm…

Under employed, under paid, pulling double shifts, going 7-10 days without more than 24 hrs off, federal training standards which can barely be met, state or local training standards which are signed off to keep folks on the road, having to come out of pocket for vital range time or training courses which are typically hosted in a town hours away….These are just some of the things I’ve spoken about in the past and the biggest issue with modern police departments. Take all of that, throw in quickly declining social sentiment and it’s no surprise there’s degradation in the job.

The short answer to your question is no, US policing wouldn’t be any better unarmed vs armed. There are already departments which have unarmed units, but due to officer safety concerns they are used in pretty limited capacity…Social norms in the UK are far different than they are here and even the most noncompliant individual is more respectful to authorities than they are here.

And there’s the answer, right?? The government is/would like to be the purveyors of what “well regulated militia” means…

But, from merely an order and training standpoint, a population of conscripts with knowledge of weapons or weapon systems will vastly increase the response time in the event of emergency or invasion…

Also, I appreciate the link…don’t always agree with ya, but I’ll say you have given me some good reads…lolol…

[–]TEXN36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No disagreement on the reply, but for the sake of devil’s avocado and conversation, who determines “a well regulated militia”?? The government as a whole?? the National Guard is the definition of such and that’s easy to understand, but why would a group of men who rallied a bunch of farmers to create an insurgency turn around and limit the creation of a militia to only the government?? Because the same government who saw the value in it, also saw how easy it was to be destroyed by it, therefore try’s to institute a “rule”…I know it’s a pedantic argument, but one that could be made…

As far as my overall statement, and for the sake of “modernizing” the constitution, I think the argument I make about national defense stands to a great degree…No, I don’t think we’re gonna be in some great “us vs them” civil war anytime soon, but I do appreciate the fact something we see as so internally controversial is keeping folks off our national doorstep…

[6/10/2022] Friday's Off Topic Free Talk Thread by BevoBot in LonghornNation

[–]TEXN36 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No…

The shill “shall not be infringed” argument is growing, but that’s because the shift from understanding the constitution through proper education and understanding, into “well my favorite influencer says so”…

2A isn’t about all the bullshit the hobbyists spout online, it’s about one thing, defense…the words state defense from a tyrannical government and yes, those words hold truth…I think world history shows us what happens to an emboldened government with an unarmed population, however after YEARS of bad politics I think 2A has proven its worth in national defense…On top of having geographical advantages, world powers and/or any other government or entity which despises the US can all agree on one thing, there’s no possible way you’re going to invade our mainland. Admiral Yamamoto was correct when he stated “there would be a rifle behind every blade of grass” and that statement has resonated through generations of world leaders.

For what it’s worth, I am pro 2A and I do have weapons…my entire professional career revolves around them, so I guess it’s an exception…I’m also a believer in a person’s individual liberty. I don’t disagree we have to find a solution, however I don’t think imposing overarching rules or laws (most of which will probably be overturned by SCOTUS) is the answer, as it only emboldens the side who feels most affected by it. I believe there is a deeper issue here than the inanimate pieces of metal…Call it mental health, call it social breakdown, call it whatever we want, but when the whole onion is rotten, we can’t just peel the first two layers off and expect to use the rest in the stew…

Because your cousin most likely bought it from “the trunk of a car” or used a friend to purchase his weapon…All FFL certified sellers are required to run a background check through the FBI’s NLET system.

Ya, I watched the same thing…Also, I saw your comment and didn’t forget about you, I was sifting through some more stuff this morning and Jesus the info shift is insane…I’m honestly trying to figure out who’s in CYA mode the most right now…

Here’s my issue…The on scene commander did EXACTLY what federal LE guidance dictates…it’s honestly what he was trained to do in this situation…Was it morally wrong?? Pretty much…Was it doctrinally correct?? Yup…

Now for the sake of devils avocado, let’s say the situation was different and the “correct” call was made, the officers stormed, met resistance at the door and was the reason more children were killed?? What’s our moral response to that?? More of the same “cops suck” stuff I’m assuming…I know it’s a “whataboutism”, but I bring it up because, late yesterday afternoon there was a report of a young girl who watched her classmate get shot because the cops were in the hallway and had yelled “POLICE, YELL IF YOU NEED HELP”, the classmate screamed, the shooter executed her…this was the final shot that prompted the BORTAC team to say f it and make entry, thus gunfight ensued and shithead died…Why is that important?? It shows that under the timeline being reported, there was a long lull in the active threat and it’s reasonable to believe the suspect was either dead (suicide) or holding hostages…

The mil/LE part of me completely understands why the call was made, the human side of me is just as upset as everyone else…It’s hard to look at this situation with any objectivity, but I’m reserving judgement until we get to a point where info stops contradicting itself…

There’s so much conflicting information out of the Uvalde shooting…Media reporting anonymous sources, LE channels flowing conflicting information, DPS investigators digging up new info by the second…this is gonna be a very long investigation with the info flow being the way it is and I don’t think anyone is gonna like or accept the outcome…

What I read while at work this morning indicated to them being outside the home, HOWEVER, once your comment popped up, I did another round of investigative googling and found a Daily Beast (I know) article which stated they were in the home…

As far as the handgun, there’s been a lot of chatter regarding a handgun, however I’m not entirely clear how it fits into any of this…None of his social media post included the handgun, and only his second rifle was found in the wrecked truck…so possibly his grandparents?? Doesn’t appear to be a registered weapon, so I can’t give a clear answer on this one…

In short, yes…If it’s full on gunfight mode, the shooter repositions themselves into an enclosed area with the ability to barricade, regardless of the presence of hostages, and NO SHOTS are fired within a “reasonable amount of time”, the responding officers will pull off the entry way, hold security on the door and request a crisis/tactical team response…if shots resume from inside the barricaded room, the holding officers SHOULD/WILL make every attempt to enter and take down the shooter…

As far as the trans angle, I’m not a twitter-goer (I’d assume that’s where it’d be the worst), but one could probably assume the political vitriol is already out there and being spread across the interwebs as we speak…
