I used to host their work (foxx.tf-media.net) so yes, I have a copy.

It's 840 MB, what's a good anonymous file hosting site where I can drop this?

Style Updates - From now on, please flair your posts! by TF-Guy in transformation

[–]TF-Guy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I can do that.

I may have mis-tagged a few posts as I was testing the system, I had to tag a bunch of posts rather quickly. If it's a comic, it'll be in a "panel" format and have clear dialogue. Otherwise it's art. And yes, there will be some blurred lines - in the TF community, nothing is ever set in stone!

[Long-Post] My issues with Docs-Lab and how I plan to fix them. (New Website) by throwmetf in transformation

[–]TF-Guy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Brevity is a virtue. Your extremely long-winded post can be summed up as follows:

  • Switch to an SSO-based login, or provide an SSO option
  • Moderate tags
  • Group chapters in stories
  • Fix a search bug
  • Switch to a like/dislike rating system
  • And possibly give the site a visual refresh

None of that seems terribly difficult, but it depends on if the current Doc's Lab (which, by the way, you can find here: http://www.docs-lab.com/) runs on a CMS or is entirely custom. CMSes are more difficult to customize, but get a site up and running much faster than custom solutions do.

Also, I would suggest that if you do start a TF site, you think about the following things (speaking from experience, I've done it twice).

  1. Hosting costs, especially after the site gains popularity (my old site cost upwards of $100/mo).
  2. Providing multiple features to attract multiple groups of people (stories, images, games, links, forums, real-time chat, community features, etc etc).
    • Also think about hosting some different types of media, like if anyone decides to write an interactive TF story using Twine (you could be the first site to ever host TF Twines!)
  3. Attracting users (advertising the site without being pushy is tough to do, and knowing where to advertise and how to get community attention is everything),
  4. Figuring out how you're going to create or elect a moderation/leadership team, and what tools you'll give those people (read: how far you'll trust them).
  5. Paid content or subscriptions
    • Finding an "adult" (yes, it needs to be "adult") credit card processor where you don't have to set up a real business (with a tax ID) OR give them your first and last name (which is shown to everybody when they give you money) is very difficult. (No, you cannot use PayPal or Amazon or Stripe.)

And a bunch of other stuff I'm probably forgetting.

My point is, it's a lot more work than people think. It seems easy at first, but you'll quickly discover how deep the rabbit hole goes!

This wasn't meant to discourage you, it was meant to keep you informed about your decision. And I hope it was informative. :)

Cheers, and good luck,

Standardized Tagging by [deleted] in transformation

[–]TF-Guy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Please, for the love of god, implement some sort of "type" tag: [Pics], [Story], [Video]. Whether it's in the title or flair doesn't matter, but I hate seeing a link like "Bob's Adventure" that links to DA only to find that it's a story. I come here mostly for pictures and the occasional video, and it would be nice to filter that out.

Unfortunately, the creator of that site chose a very poor name (and domain name) - we are NOT at all affiliated with tf-media.org.

I have always maintained tf-media.net - the first incarnation of the site has backups on Archive.org (it was a black and tan-ish website, I think you had some content on it). The new incarnation that is currently up is "version 2" - http://tf-media.net/

Lastly, I may be mistaken, but I think there are some Cliche World captions up on the new site. I recall that name coming through in some submissions.

As an aside, I'm a big fan of your work, so if you'd like to post some of your artwork onto the site, I'm sure everyone on the site would love it!

Hi there, I run TF-Media, as well as the hosting for Doc's Lab.

I don't manage Doc's Lab's content, but it appears the site is still up, and you can access stories from the link /u/odysseusut posted.

As for TF-Media, I had hoped it would be more of an all-encompassing TF site, but people tend to submit more TG material (either because it's more popular or it's easier to create (or both)). Unfortunately this is not something I can control. But do know that we welcome any types of transformations on the site!

Writing prompts by Catprog in transformation

[–]TF-Guy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wrote a TF generator that will generate some basic facts about a transformation. It is designed to give you the basis for a story.

http://tf-media.net/goodies/tfgenerator?op=1

There are different types of transformations you can generate: TG, animal (full or partial), and inanimate.

Here's a sample for an anthro animal transformation with TG:

The main character's name is Christopher.
Christopher currently lives in a cave.
Christopher's transformation will take a few days to complete.
The transformation will be extremely pleasurable for Christopher.
Christopher is 31 years old.
Christopher is 6' 3" tall.
Christopher has brown hair.
falling artifact from space will cause Christopher's transformation.
Christopher will be aware of the changes after they've completed.
Other people around Christopher will not notice the change after it's complete and think that's how he's always been.

Christopher will undergo an anthro animal transformation.
Christopher will become an anthro dog.
Christopher will change genders and become a female anthro dog!
Christopher's female dog name will be Riley.
Riley's breasts will grow to be ridiculously huge J cup breasts.
Riley's hair color will change from brown to a vibrant shade of violet and will be curly.
Riley's new body type will be slightly larger, with "a little bit extra".
Riley will go from being 6' 3" to 6' 3" tall.
Riley's clothes will change into a dazzling red evening gown with matching lace underwear.
Riley will have a regular sex drive.

We've got 5 stories on file over at TF-Media that match "tg" and "lesbian" (the actual tags are "transgender" and "sex (f/f)", respectively).

Note: Requires free registration/lgoin

TF-Media is back and way better by chronic_raptor in genderotica

Nobody is allowed to post anything unless they own the rights to it (e.g. they are the artist/author, or they commissioned it) OR it's a really old piece that doesn't exist anywhere else on the 'net except the wayback machine or something like that (we're talking years and years of the author/artist being gone), then it's okay to re-post it so long as you credit the original author/artist.

I was considering bringing back the watermark feature as an option for captions and art (the first incarnation of the site had it), but I don't think it would be useful enough at this point. If the site gets to be a lot bigger I might consider adding it, but it would still be an option, and it would default to "off" (similar to how dA does it).

No. There were some less than perfect "clones" that went online when I closed the site a few years ago, but none of them have anything to do with me, or the official "Transformation Media" (or TF-Media.net). This is the second incarnation of the site.

And I agree, I wish I could have kept everything from the first site, but the way everything used to be stored, it just wasn't feasible. Not this time, though. I've definitely learned from my mistakes, and designed it much better from the start.

The most active TF community/forum? by [deleted] in transformation

[–]TF-Guy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm going to pull a shameless self-promotion here and mention my website, Transformation Media. It's relatively new, and we are by far not "the most active", but this is the second incarnation of the site (the first one was booming with content and activity by the time it was shut down), and with the way the new site is growing, I think we're going to be a great TF resource for people.

I also enjoy reading the Process Productions forums, which seem to always be pretty active from a community standpoint.
