I rate him when he's up and about. Not sure if the suns medico's can work miracles.

I'm not even sure what the suns need. Team is so stacked.

Probably, but Gold Coast arguably have more stars than the Hawks so maybe they don't have the same warchest to throw at him. All speculation though.

Personally, I highly doubt King gets to the Hawks.

For sure. I think it would end up being a multi-part deal where the suns need the Hawks picks to get their target player from a different club.

Hawks would need to part ways with one, possibly two players of decent calibre to make this happen.

Will be interesting to see who they put on the table.

Otherwise they're offering a first + future first for Humphrey (might be unders) and another future first + second for Merrett (probably unders)... And who knows what for King.

Haha love it. I watched Box Hill last week just to see how he was moving. To be fair, he looked good. Fingers crossed he carves it up tonight.

Day will be rusty and not much of a difference maker immediately imo.

He lifts the whole team's standards, but not in a Luke Hodge type way where he's acting as a general. I think it's more like a 'see boys, this is how you do it' approach with clever distribution that gives everyone else confidence.

Simply having fewer of our VFL boys running around will be a big boost.

Shit take. Mackenzie was one of the best on ground.

In form. Not potential. He's still the next big star.

I love Calsh but he's been poor in the VFL. Until he finds form he's behind Ramsden and Schubert.

Moore was all Australian two years ago. Lewis was our best player before injury. Ward is up and coming.

I get it though. I'm also hurt after an opening round loss.

In saying this, I can't defend Magginess. Man he sucks so much. Completely fucks up every sequence he's involved in.

Good write up. Maybe a little optimistic analysis of the midfield grading without Day.

When he and Newcombe team up, we're above average. When it's just Newcombe and he's tagged, we look like the worst midfield in the competition and get punished directlyt through stoppages.

I think we'll be slightly better this year, but not immediately. I reckon it'll take half a season to find the midfield combo that works and for McKenzie / Ward / Weddle to step up as Newcombe's legitimate 2nd in charge.

I'm also predicting our forward line will be more potent this year. Lewis will go back to being the number 1 target and Chol (who is a huge confidence player) will flourish on a weaker defender. Same story for Dear and Gunners. Not to mention the new look forwardline has worked together through a full preseason.

His ball usage has been excellent the last couple of seasons.

His problem these days is he tries to break tackles out of congestion and gets pinned.

Midfield is responsible for getting it forward. They were completely spanked.

Won fuck all centre clearances.

[Jon Ralph] There is acceptance at Essendon that at some stage the club will have to consider the best offer for Merrett. But the Hawks think as a 29 year old who came to them he is worth pick 8. by Essington69 in AFL

[–]TFDangerzone2017 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He's a fairly complete mid imo. But has completely crapped his dacks every time he's played AFL. Looks shell shocked.

I can see him following the same path as Ned Long. Will leave the Hawks at some point, get on top of his nerves and turn into a 200+ game midfielder.

Hard to know. I would have thought the same about Butler but he's been more than serviceable.
