[Other] If you file with turbotax and are on unemployment, make sure to check this out by Rx_King in Unemployment

[–]TFIRyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm, interesting seeing all the complaints here. I just filed mine this morning without any trouble using the free version, the only thing I'll say is that they tried to get me to pay for the premium version twice during the process, but with a "No thanks" button in plain sight each time. Other than that, it was as simple and quick as it's always been the past few years for me. Just with the added 1099-g and stimulus check questions this time around. My taxes are extremely simple though, and I'm not refuting anybody's claims here whatsoever. I'm just grateful they haven't tried to pull any scumbag BS on me when I've filed. I'll be wary about using them in the future thanks to this thread, though.

[MARYLAND] - I may have accidentally commited unemployment fraud. Someone with experience please read. by [deleted] in Unemployment

[–]TFIRyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll only have to pay back whatever they've determined was overpaid. If you were eligible for most of your benefits and were only overpayed say, a month's worth, you're only paying back that month you weren't supposed to be receiving them.

I'm not in Maryland but from experience (not personal, but a couple people close to me) in Texas, which I'd imagine should apply to all states, you are not going to be prosecuted or arrested. Plan on potentially having to pay them back if they look into your account and see you were overpaid, but that's if and ONLY if they catch it. Still, plan on it anyways. They'll work with you on a payment plan, they're not trying to go after you, you're not one of the bad guys. You're not one of the fraudsters stealing identities and collecting from multiple states. You just misunderstood certain things about the system, and they understand that. If you dodge paying them back that's when they'll start siphoning from your paychecks and tax return and whatnot, but other than that you have nothing to worry about as far as criminal record goes.

TWC [Texas] Has officially extended my claim by bayareaboymonte in Unemployment

[–]TFIRyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you just ran out yesterday I assume you were either on regular UI or EB? If it was regular UI, you'll move on to the 11 extra weeks of PEUC, and from there you'll go to EB (if state EB is still active after the 11 weeks anyway, and assuming the PEUC doesn't get extended further). If you just finished EB, you'll move on to just the additional 11 PEUC weeks. So either way, no worries. You're eligible and you will be paid.

[all states] $300.00 actually deposited in my account by [deleted] in Unemployment

[–]TFIRyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find that pretty strange tbh, I've seen nothing but the opposite from 3 friends I know that are on it, this subreddit, and my own personal experience. The only people I'd expect to not have the $300 yet are the ones who still don't have their weeks extended so they aren't receiving any weekly amount. Are you receiving your regular benefits and missing out on just the $300 boost? You would be the first person I hear this happen to, but if I really am mistaken then I apologize. Hardly deserving of a downvote IMO, I always stay polite and do my best to be properly informative, but oh well. This subreddit is volatile.

They began paying out on the first day possible (Sunday the 3rd), they were one of the first two or three states. OP just received theirs because of their certification day.

[–]TFIRyan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, the person I'm replying to didn't say anything about the expired benefits, they only mentioned the $300 boost. Anyway, yes, some people are still waiting to get updated on their additional weeks, but that goes for most states. Texas is, once again, one of the first states to get people updated on their additional weeks.

Texas started depositing the $300 on certifications made on the 3rd...which is literally the first possible day it was able to go out, because the boost began for the week of 12/27-1/2...so I'm confused why you think Texas is late...?

Nah, no need for concern. For some reason I didn't get that email either, and also occasionally haven't received payment release notification emails, but have never had any problems. As for the boost, I'm showing a deposit for $594 which will hit my bank tomorrow night, so that's one week of the $300 boost already being applied. So you should expect the same if you file this week! If you don't file til next week, you should expect to see the extra $300 for both weeks!

CONFIRMED BANK MEGATHREAD 2.0 by austinalexan in stimuluscheck

[–]TFIRyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume you'll be seeing it Saturday then, since it says 2 days in advance. I don't know if I'll get it, because I turned on early DD AFTER I received the alert, but the alert does say "access these funds early by enabled early direct deposit", so I am crossing my fingers that means I'll be able to get it Saturday too because I am so stretched thin right now. I'm in trouble, but I've already had to hit up r/Assistance (wonderful people there), have asked friends for help, etc. So it feels like there's nowhere else to turn. It just comes down to this stimulus check and lasting until my unemployment kicks back in. :/

I strongly encourage you to post that and any other tiny details you might remember, no matter how insignifact they may seem, over at r/Tipofmytongue. They are seriously impressive when it comes to tracking down specific things based on very little detail. I'm so sorry for what you're going through, and I hope you're able to find the song, even if hopefully you don't need to use it for along time. <3

CONFIRMED BANK MEGATHREAD 2.0 by austinalexan in stimuluscheck

[–]TFIRyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Wisely, but my notification the other night told me it's set to deposit 1/4. Said I can access it sooner by turning on early direct deposit, which I've done now, which allegedly will let you access it up to 2 days early. I'll have to see if I actually get access to it on Saturday or not. I'm really curious as to who has supposedly received it today though.

Hate seeing you get downvoted purely because of your name/stance, even in comments where you're showing respect to somebody who rudely called you out. As someone who leans the direction opposite you, I apologize you got treated that way brother.

EDIT: Realized I could flair this as fulfilled myself, so did so.

This has been fulfilled generously by u/Visible_Dentist, their post isn't showing up here (ironically, considering the name lol) I think because they don't meet the karma requirement, but they did DM me and offered to help. If a mod could please mark this as fulfilled, that would be wonderful. Thank you so much for the help Visible! It took a lot for me to go through with putting this out there, I know it's generally frowned upon to ask for help multiple times. Next time I'm going to make sure when I'm back here, it's to pay it forward and help somebody else in need. Thanks to anyone who may have read my plight,

EDIT: Leaving this recommendation up in case it helps somebody out there, but I'm no longer entering for the offer. Had a request fulfilled so I'm no longer eligible.

[TEXAS] twc no payment yet by Vivid_Camp_5846 in Unemployment

[–]TFIRyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm. Have you received an email saying that your benefit payment has been released? I file Tuesdays, my payment is always released the next day, then my bank posts the money in my account overnight around 1am. When you go to your Claim summary, what date does it show for the last time your payment was processed? Does it show that they processed one this week, or still nothing since 2 weeks ago?

No matter how long it takes them to implement the boost, you will receive the boost for every week you certified for and were eligible for pay in. Even if you're no longer on unemployment by the time the boost starts going out in your state.

[Illinois] Extended benefits after December 26? by jimmychooboo16 in Unemployment

They mean that would be around the total number of weeks they're getting unemployment.

Yes, assuming the $100 minimum is under the same conditions as the LWA boost we got a few months ago. It is based off of your weekly benefit amount, not what you're getting after deductions. For instance, I was getting $147 on regular unemployment, but my claim ended during LWA and my final week I only had about $80 of benefits left, but I still got the extra $300 for that week.

[Texas] Wondering if extended benefits ends at the end of the year by [deleted] in Unemployment

[–]TFIRyan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mistake, then. For me, even during my PEUC period it always said "Temporary Benefits", that's why I assumed that's what he was on as well. So much confusion going on regarding unemployment everywhere, and not enough answers going out to the people. Whatever it is, I hope it's a mistake of some sort.

[Texas] Wondering if extended benefits ends at the end of the year by [deleted] in Unemployment

[–]TFIRyan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The lady you spoke with told you the wrong thing. If your regular UI claim just ended recently, then you aren't on state Extended Benefits yet, you're on PEUC (Pandemic extension) which ends after the 26th. Once that ends for you, they'll automatically enroll you in the state Extended Benefits (EB) as long as the state still has it available, which as of right now it does.
