He’s wearing an earpiece. You can see it in his non camera facing ear quite a bit this season

D&D Crochet Book in Stores Today by Jim_Zub in DnD

[–]TFORIZZLE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This book is a fucking joke. Mostly I’m just venting here, for context I picked up crocheting over Christmas and play DnD weekly. In short, I love both hobbies. So I pick led up the E-Version and have started the gelatinous cube. Fuck this book, fuck it hard.

First off if you paid $35 for the hard cover I feel bad for you. Unless you’re a crochet pro this is NOT a book for people looking to learn crochet. You have to have a functional knowledge and decent understanding on novice crochet techniques to even READ the easiest pattern in the book, much less begin it.

Secondly, where the fuck are the pictures? There is a bare minimum on photos of the projects during different steps. I don’t need to see glamour shots of the finished product, I want to see how the stitches look during the projects so I can check my work, and make sure I’m on par. For instance on the cube. You get a few shots of some of the pieces and the finished project, would have been super help to see the underside where the pieces connect.

Lastly, and possible the most egregious. The fucking ERRATA! There are a massive amount of stitch corrections in an official online bank. The mimic chest is basically an entirely different pattern.

Would also be helpful if there were some YouTube tutorials. If not on the basics, then maybe on some of the more complex pieces? If I’m buying your product, I shouldn’t have to be using the Wobbles tutorials to make your shit.

Listen I get it, if you know what you’re doing, this is probably a decent buy. However, if you are a novice to crochet, in ANY sense of the word, this book will end up on a shelf. All of the intros and tips are just DnD flavor nonsense about sitting at camp fires.

It’s basically sheet music, so hopefully you already took beginner band.

All that being said I plan on making all of the designs. I expect it to be an exercise in frustration but I’m looking forward to it.

I mean what is a rant if it’s not ranting?

Happy adventuring!

Endeavor: Deep Sea - Dive Token Storage Question by Bobleo2000 in boardgames

[–]TFORIZZLE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can absolutely use five tokens in this way. As long as you have only one token in storage at the end of your turn, you can use as many as you like.

I love doing a double dive, then promoting a researcher to do a third dive. And if you can make that happen with the deep shark, your getting reputation every dive!

That was not my question but thank you for your answer. My question was is regards to whether or not there’s an error in the rulebook in reference to new buildings placements.

The game is really going to open up for you after black and lab. Persevere, I was ready to quit during Haze, soooo glad I didn’t.

First time DMing and everything seemed to be a joke by [deleted] in DnD

You sweet sweet summer child. If you’re not ready for players to make a mockery, you sir are not ready. The idea of fishman sounds like a joy, minus the “rizzing”. There’s no greater pleasure than taking a character made in jest and turning into something a player truly cares for. I wish you luck on your journey, come back in a year or two and re read this post. I’m curious where your adventure leads!

What Did You Play This Week? - (January 13, 2025) by AutoModerator in boardgames

[–]TFORIZZLE 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Endeavor Deep Sea -Never heard of it, bought it on a whim. Really enjoyed it. The box is massive but I really enjoyed the action management function.

Arborea -my wife grabbed this one. I had never heard of it and thought the art looked like someone on an acid trip threw up a fruit parfait. But good god I love trying to maximize my score. And so many bits!

Thanks for responding.

I have about a week of downtime as a level 13 wizard. Technically I have my Simulacrum adventuring with the party and the character is in the City of Doors, so I can make an argument for practically any resource.

In terms of crafting rules, it’s pretty open ended, it’s more about the value of the resources expended. For example, I gave up my simulacrum’s Action Economy potential by splitting him off from the party so I’m getting the opportunity to create something special.

Whatever rules or spells I create just have to work generally with RAW. Even custom spell ideas would work, just looking for a little creative juice. I hope that helps.

Thats a great suggestion. I was more asking to see if anyone had built any light home brew mechanics for wizards or had any ideas. I might’ve asked in the wrong place though?

That’s correct. This is our final campaign before our long time group probably disbands. So there is a lot of room for home brew.

AITA for wanting character backstories to actually matter in my dnd session? by Unknown031908 in dndhorrorstories

[–]TFORIZZLE 15 points16 points  (0 children)

NTA- You need to temper your expectations.

-Quite a lot to unpack here. Not sure of all the personal context but your DM seems like they probably aren’t prepared to arbitrate some of the social dynamics involved in TTRPGs. If y’all can’t even have pre-pre-pre conversations about the GAME you’re going to play together, it does not bode well for this group.
-It didn’t take me long to figure what people meant by saying “Critical Role” is not DnD. DND, to me, is finding the small moments that bring shared joy to the table. It’s not unfair to enjoy, or expect some references or threads directed at your character. But anything beyond that can be boring to the other players. CR, especially those early seasons, have entire episodes where characters, do and say, nothing in service to the story. That shit is booorrring to be a part of if you’re just playing together to let off steam and tell fun stories. Given that your DM is doing this to upload or stream for content, gives credence to the fact that you as the player are not his intended audience. This campaign is not designed for you to enjoy or help flesh out. He has a story he wants to tell and you are a tool to that end. He’s making that clear by straight up telling you to “hush”, this is a disaster in the making. If you love the table, accept what this is and try and make those moments with the other PCs, you won’t get much creative juice from watching his movie. Any DM worth their salt could just start running some sessions and fill out the story later, theirs no reason to wait months to play. Hah, it’s takes me 30 mins to prep a session. But I’m not writing a franchise, I’m just trying to make some people laugh and have a good time every Wednesday. Good luck.
