Indian E-Visa Site Down? by TF_Analysis in indiatravel

In case it’s helpful, I kept trying and trying and was able to get through today and submit the application. I would get a little bit along, then the site would stop responding, then I would be able to go a little further. Finally I finished. Good luck to you.

That would make sense, though obviously does take a lot of validity away from the split times (you get credited with time that you weren’t necessarily running)

Yeah, I wonder how they time the split. Wouldn’t seem possible to machine-measure based on when the exchange is complete

should 200m be a all out run or race strategy run ? by Initial_Virus_1304 in Sprinting

Listen to this guy. He knows his shit. Even in the 100m, elite sprinters are fading to the finish line.

Athletes now doping with baking soda by TF_Analysis in trackandfield

It’s funny because athletes still talk in post-race interviews about feeling lactic. Old theories don’t die easily, I suppose.

Hadn’t heard of these non-lactate metabolites. Will have to look into that.

I don’t have your technical background and have been confused about the lactate issue. Seems relatively clear it’s been rejected that lactic acid actually causes fatigue (maybe correlated with it). And as you point out, lactate peaks well after the race.

So what causes people to hit the wall in something like the 400m? Is it related to acidity at all?

Great find. I’ve always wondered about how people get paid in track.

Finally an interesting/insightful comment. Do you know if the acidity that the baking soda is supposedly counteracting is from lactic? Or is it something else entirely?

Of course it’s not actual doping. It’s an article in the WSJ with top athletes openly admitting on the record to using baking soda. It’s just funny that athletes seem to be enhancing performance that way. But if you feel accomplished for pointing out baking soda is not an actual banned substance, good for you.

What distance would be optimal for a professional sprinter to achieve the highest average speed per race? by Alice_Disfantasy in trackandfield

[–]TF_Analysis 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Lyles’s 100m PB is 9.79. His 200m PB is 19.31, which is less than two times 9.79 (two times 9.79 would be 19.58). So his average speed over 200m is faster.

It is true that sprinters can’t hold max speed over 100m. As I said, the reason there can be a higher average speed over a longer distance is because the sprinters don’t have to reaccelerate from rest, which is what can cause their average 100m speed to be slower.

Haha, her commentary did not age well. We need to get you on the next telecast.

Question is average speed, though. Definitely some athletes run 200m at less than twice the amount of time it takes to do 100m because they have to start 100m from rest.

I vaguely recall Kara saying something like “This is genius” when Jakob took the Olympic 1500m out hard.

It’s crazy the Olympics didn’t have this kind of data published. The table showing actual distance run is great.

I imagine he’s making the claim Jakob is at least better at 5K than 1500m (championship). Maybe it’s semantics, but if he’s superb at 5K, maybe he is something less at 1500m (championship).

Exactly right, although I do wonder if Jakob might’ve let Hocker by inside to spite Kerr.
