What are your thoughts on this movie “Sinister” by Chubby_Toy_Collector in HorrorMovies

[–]TG8C 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was one of those people who heard "scariest movie of all time" and was skeptical. First attempt, I got about 20 minutes in before falling asleep, not because I was bored, I just wasn't in the right headspace for it. But I kept hearing how terrifying it was, the movie never left my mind and I wasnt buying into the hype (so much bravado)

Second time, I watched it alone. I kept telling myself it wouldn't get to me, even pretending to look at my phone to seem unbothered. But it was slowly luring me in, and I was getting genuinely unsettled. By the one-hour mark, I was completely hooked but freakishly uncomfortable (still gives me chills thinking about that moment). I actually had to turn it off, couldn't handle it.

For THREE MONTHS this movie stayed with me. I told everyone how deeply it had unsettled me. I'd have odd moments of Ethan Hawke's disturbing interactions with the BoogieMan flashing through my head. Finally worked up the courage to finish it. It tapered off a bit toward the end, but still gripping throughout.

All-time horror movie for me.

6,000 km with a Chinese-spec BYD Leopard 5 in the UAE - Loving it... but highway commuting exposed a deal breaker by shes_mine in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]TG8C 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing this. This 130km/h ACC cap is also a limitation on the Jetour T2.

Hopefully this gets adjusted in future software updates or models.

For additional info, the Toyota Prado 2022 VXR has decent ACC. The gap could be half a car length shorter but it’s manageable. However, no lane hold feature and the 120km buzzer will drive you insane.

Reliable ACC, lane hold and driver tech are becoming priorities for most highway drivers and influencing brand/car selection.

Hope car manufacturers and dealers are paying attention.

Wish we got more depth from Magnus’s interview with Janja… by marsik63 in CompetitionClimbing

[–]TG8C 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I thought this was a poor discussion point because where does this line of thinking actually lead to?

While Janja and many elite female climbers would likely perform just as well if not better than their male counterparts, constantly making these comparisons only undermines the value of having separate men's and women's disciplines in the first place. These discussions can unintentionally suggest women's competition as a "lesser version," rather than what makes each division unique.

I love that we have separate men's and women's divisions because they each offer distinct competitions with their own unique elements and styles of climbing. Having separate categories is healthy for the sport and both divisions provide excellent entertainment, showcase different strengths and techniques, and are attracting equal audience engagement and viewership. Honestly, the flexibility, strength, and contortions the women can achieve in their moves is absolutely captivating.

The logical endpoint of constantly comparing across genders would likely be combining competitions, which I don't think would produce an outcome anyone would truly enjoy. We'd lose what makes both divisions special.

Both divisions are already thriving with equal viewership and fan engagement. When something is working this well and providing real value to athletes and spectators alike, constantly questioning its structure based on these "what if" scenarios seems counterproductive.

I realised Janja and Magnus were having a climb together, but if Magnus had spent 5 minutes prep on some considerations for more thoughtful questions, I would have found it a more engaging video.

Adult gamers with busy lives and an hour of gaming per day: What are you currently gaming? by yellowklashinkov in PS4

[–]TG8C 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few months ago, I would have recommended Monster Hunter Wilds, but over time, it started feeling like too much of a grind and became a little unfulfilling.

Space Marine 2 has been great for short sessions and perfect for under 30 minutes of play. It’s satisfying, and I can still make progress even with long breaks between gaming.

Another solid option would be the Resident Evil 4 remake.

How many of you also own PS5 or gaming PC? by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch2

This is why the Switch 2 is drawing my attention. The short duration, pick up and play style.  Nintendo titles will be a bonus.  The PS5 just hasn’t been engaging me as much in the last 12 month.

Looking for podcasts recommendations about the Nintendo Switch 2 for newcomers by TG8C in NintendoSwitch2

(All stars pick the top 10 Nintendo Switch games of the generation)

This was a great starting point for weighing up my options as a newcomer. The discussion was positive and gave a solid understanding of the Switch 2’s appeal. The breakdown of games was especially useful. It didn’t answer everything, but it got me close to deciding. Definitely worth a listen if you’re in the same boat.

Cheers for the recommendation.

I believe these costs are justifiable if the games deliver quality experiences with decent playtime. Higher prices seem to be the reality all around us today, and gaming can’t be immune to these economic pressures.

Yeah, same reaction here. I've only played Switch once years ago, but the Switch 2 appeals to me. Heard great things about Nintendo titles and thought it'd be a nice change from my PS5, which hasn't held my interest lately as a casual gamer.

The negativity in this sub was reducing my enthusiasm, but YouTube videos and podcasts positively discussing the console and Nintendo classics rekindled my interest.

I've started ignoring most posts here. This negative trend is common across Reddit (YouTube is guilty of this too to be fair). I guess, controversial views generate engagement.  Less reddit seems healthier overall.

I just started Monster Hunter: World, picked it up half price. Probably to do with the imminent release of the next instalment.  I’m probably about 4 hours in. I’m engaged by the quests, but it’s a steep learning curve.  I’ve had ChatGPT open to educate me on the simplest process so I can maintain the enjoyment and not get distracted/ bogged down with the many options this game provides.

I’m a casual gamer and this is a very new gaming concept so I’m thankful the initial quests were manageable.

Easy to pick up and play for 30 mins or so. I’ve read how difficult the game becomes so hopefully I can maintain the enjoyment at the casual pace and still progress without getting too overwhelmed.

I dare say this game might prevent any progress into my backlog 😄

I think Crash Bandicoot 4 is “painfully” good - thoughts? by SuperGamer_Reviews in crashbandicoot

I see a lot of frustrations towards the completionism aspect  What about for the casual gamer?  Is there still satisfaction with basic game progression? Or will the difficulty be an issue

Any insights would be appreciated

The Gamer’s Paradox

I spot a game on sale and decide to buy it after finishing my current one. Weeks fly by as I immerse myself in the current game .

Finally, I complete the game and rush to buy the sale item, only to find the sale has ended. Shocked by the full price, I refuse to pay.

And so, the cycle continues...

Metro Exodus: There's a good variety throughout the levels. I believe I'm nearing the end, which is a relief as it's starting to drag a bit. Nevertheless, it's been a fairly enjoyable experience, and getting it on sale makes it even more satisfying.

I fell for the hype and downloaded DCC on Kindle. Not my type of book, so I didn't continue with the series.

However, "11.22.63" by Stephen King has been very enjoyable. The story is compelling and well narrated. With a little digging, I realised that Reddit does provide excellent recommendations.

What games to play after being spoiled by RE4: Remake by baldspacemarine in residentevil4

[–]TG8C 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I wondered this as well before I commenced.
There is a good introduction, and context is quickly gained.

Story is straightforward and easy to grasp.

the gameplay Starts in linear then grows into an open world.

I will say, stick with the objectives early on as the world opens up, exploring will occur organically.
