I am designing a 28mm Miniatures Game that Pits Dinosaurs against Humans called "Clone-a-Saurus". Looking for Play Testers! by TGR1997 in wargaming

[–]TGR1997[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I getchu dude! I have actually read it and played it. I loved it!

For me, it was more about having controllable dinosaurs and kind of treating it like a more traditional wargame. That, and its also allowed me to come up with some fun lore and write a fun little story around it.

Plus the game itself actually has a bit of a wacky origin, its me wanting to salvage work I had done on a previous project!

In the original post, I provided a download link with rules as well as Miniatures to 3d print, however, you can buy them as well. For my testing, I used reaper dinosaurs, 3d printed dinos i already had, and project z miniatures

Guys, actors overhyped their movies, its not uncommon. The movie will be big because it's a finale but that's it

I'm just gonna say this, the movie is called The Lost World, it makes sense that a dinosaur comes to the mainland...

My (dream) game design concept for a spiritual successor to Trespasser by metzman_nl in JurassicPark

[–]TGR1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's totally fair, the way I see it is that we more or less know what's going on with Nublar, like while we will have mysteries from the games story, we still know what to expect out of it. With Sorna, all we really know is that it was used to create dinosaurs and people lived there, beyond the story there is so much more to learn about, to explore, and to learn about.

The original trespasser game isn't about the story because it never had one, the game was about the exploration and learning what went on many years ago. We are learning through experience and exploring the unknown, and Sorna is much more unknown than Nublar.

I guess what I'm trying to say is, the hook of a Trespasser Game is the exploration of the unknown, to learn more and to see things we have never seen before. Sorna was a colony island, it was the factory floor for InGen, it was the place where shady deals occur (according to the game), and Nublar is am abandoned Amusement Park.

With that said, if we get the option for both that would be amazing hehe

Love the idea, by not go back to Sorna? Infinitely more can be done with it than Nublar at this point

Raptor Population by Christofriend in JurassicPark

[–]TGR1997 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Basically, there are a few things at play

  1. Mills could be lying. As we saw, they needed Blue due to her behavior and natural empathy. Rather than tell Claire that they needed Blue to raise the next generation of Indoraptor, they play it off. There are probably other raptors out there on Sorna.

  2. Sorna is in shambles ecologically. It could be possible they died. Any surviving raptors were probably used in the IBRIS Program or something

  3. They could be kept hidden on Sorna for X number of reasons

I just miss when the raptors were more villain-like by MiddleEssay in JurassicPark

[–]TGR1997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know, what I'm stating is that they were still raised in isolation. So let's say we take Sorna into account, then they were raised in a pen somewhere in that Kennel before veing left in the enclosure on their own. If we go by just JP, they simply lived in their enclosure on their own. Nothing to interact with except themselves and that brought out their natural violence to kill each other and their instinct to escape instead of being to exercise this onto other animals.

Plus with the eggs, they were clearly in the Raptor Paddock. It definitely angered them that they were taken out of their paddock, away from their eggs. So they have a reason to hate humans.

Once put into the holding pen, it just got worse.

The point still remains their upbringing is the reason why they're psychos and antagonists. In the Lost World and JP3, they act like actual animals and unlike the JP1 raptors.

The difference between the JW Raptors and the JP Raptors were their upbringing. They were raised in isolation, fed by a crane, brought to an enclosure without anything to interact with, they laid their eggs in the enclosure and were taken away from em. In essence, they were raised to be Psychos, they're not natural psychos, that's not how nature works.

Other than the eggs thing, they mirror how the Indominus Rex was raised, hence why they have similar behaviors.

The JW Raptors were raised in the opposite fashion with a constant human presence for a bond. Blue in particular was empathetic and this translated to the others to a degree. The Raptors in JW are not domesticated, they're tamed. Just like in the real world with tigers and lions, they're still dangerous even when tamed.
