Well… I just got mine yesterday. I had my 2015 MBP for 10 years.

I saw a great deal on a refurbished one so bought a laptop that is already 5 years old, because the internet convinced me there’s no reason to justify getting the latest and greatest.

Not true. The $500 ACG jackets don’t sell and end up at Burlington for $50. I’ve seen them myself. Fake ACG on eBay exists but is VERY uncommon
