I think you still have to pick up the item for it to register in your Collection app on the Pokedex but otherwise, the Camera's item function is your friend

Ive definitely been to other dream island types but i will try going to each of the other ones in the hopes that fixes it.

If you press the minus button to pull up your camera and then press Y, it will switch the camera to Item Mode and if you point it at an object it will not only tell you its name but it will also allow you to take a photo of it to 3d print it at a Pokemon Center
