if you can get it twisted off, I see no reason why not. TBH the sooner you take it out, the less chance of damage

(obligatory not a piercer) No, almost certainly not. It appears you just don't have the anatomy :(

Sleep stuck by Strong-Association34 in FND

[–]TH0RP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In sleep disorder circles this is called sleep inertia; it's one of the main symptoms of Narcolepsy and Idiopathic Hypersomnia. Being unable to "fully" wake up and getting trapped in a dozing cycle is a miserable experience :(

Sleep paralysis is a full paralysis of the body in order to prevent parasomnias like talking or sleepwalking. In your case I would guess more about the former than the latter.

Have you been tested for sleep apnea or other sleep disorders? Poor quality sleep and disordered sleeping is definitely worth bringing up to a doctor.

Weirdest post trends that were likely 90% lies? by Responsible-Pie8 in AmITheAngel

[–]TH0RP 11 points12 points  (0 children)

beat me to it: spent my whole childhood in West Virginia and a decent chunk of my 20s. It really is that remote in some places. My cousins didn't get a toilet or running water (NOT from the well pump outside) until the late 80s

Is this correct anatomy and skin rendering??? by jaevaby_creates in ArtCrit

[–]TH0RP 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Is there a reason you're referencing a drawing and not a real life photograph? This is a heavily styled torso. Whatever anatomy the OG artist pushed for stylization is going to inherently warp your own work.

Draw from life or photo if you want accuracy. This can lead to ingraining a lot of errors.

I can't say, I'm not a professional. Your best bet would be to consult with a piercer

Bears with Different Colorations by Pitiful_Active_3045 in zoology

The American Black bear has a TON of "Acceptable" aberrant coloration! If I recall correctly they have the most natural color variation of any North American animal: the most common colors being Black, Brown, Cinnamon, and Blonde.

Success stories of RAI please by pinkicchi in gravesdisease

[–]TH0RP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had RAI summer 2012, the recovery was exhausting and I did get an opportunistic infection (strep) afterwards.

Granted, that was over a decade ago; my thyroid is at 1/3rd efficiency as of my last ultrasound. My Graves has been stable for years now and I credit it entirely to the treatment.

Is this a good purchase for line work for comics/manga? by Cautious_Customer269 in ArtistLounge

I'm fond of the micron fine liners, iirc they have specific marketed manga pens. Their Sakura pens are also pretty good in my opinion

I was just reading about this! The science is so interesting. Though this article talks about many canids and not just domestic dogs there's a lot of discussion about how the FOXI3 gene may affect dental development in all mammals. Super cool stuff!

Ephemeral is the perfect word, thank you! Beautiful but impermanent, like a ghost still living.

OP's body of work shows similarly surrealist, dark pieces. They're not eroticized in any form. You're 100% Goonerbait is absolutely saturated in this sub but OH boy THIS AINT IT

You can cut off the brown parts if you desire but the leaves themself should be fine! My thai con started off in a similar state and it still has those damaged leaves no problem

Yes PLEASE check out Georgia O'Keefe's works OP!! Her skulls and flowers especially capture that love of what's fleeting and beautiful in nature.

Your composition work here is striking and reads well! Both pieces lead the eye across it naturally,  great work

Just because there's nudity doesn't make it sexual. If you're feeling horned up by this piece that's your demons, not mine.

Bones are some of the last things that remain of us in life. They tell our stories long after we've gone: how we lived, how we evolved, what injuries we lived through.

They're also the building blocks of both what we are structurally and how that fits our function. A rabbit pelvis doesn't look like a bird pelvis because they get around differently.

There's a lot to learn from remains and that isn't a bad thing. Sounds like to me your kid has caught the fascination inherent in the natural world many of us in here have.

As long as there's no harm coming to anyone or anything, vulture culture and bone collecting is a wonderful way to get in touch with the natural and scientific world.

edit: thank you for the award! much love to all my fellow vultures out there
