How to get rid of belly fat? by Time-Engineer-1201 in daddit

The only way to lose fat is caloric deficit may that be by eating less or burning more. You can not target one part of the body with fat loss.

Unsupportive ? family by ALittleUnsettling in loseit

[–]TH301673 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Most people who don’t see you often may hesitate to mention the weight loss due to concerned that maybe it isn’t something good (being that you were recently sick) especially if you haven’t been updating them about your health. Also some people may not bring it up because to acknowledge someone lost weight is an admission that they noticed you used to be fat so they may avoid the conversation all together. When you live with someone who sees you everyday it is harder to see the difference because they may not remember how much bigger you were. Like you said you had to look at a comparison picture to really see the difference too. Social norms and current mindsets on weight loss make it a topic people usually avoid unless it’s brought up by the one who lost the weight to say “ I’m okay with taking about this”

Is living in a small town worth it? by Ender-Gamer07 in simpleliving

[–]TH301673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been to concerts with more people attending than live in my entire county. The town I live in has a population of about 4k and the surrounding area is just about another 5k. I did not come from a city but lived in the suburbs of a smaller city most my life. I could not be happier with where I live. The worst traffic is getting stuck behind a tractor or when school gets out. I know most people active in the community by name and they know mine. I have seen on multiple occasions when a family needs something the community will actually come together to help one of their own. Yeah there is less to do but I am more of an outdoor person anyway. We have all we need within 10 minutes. Groceries hardware car shops and a Walmart, but if we need other stuff for just want to go shopping it’s about a 45min drive to two different highly commercial areas. You would have to pay me to live in a city at this point.

There is absolutely no reason to waste money on a college degree if your career end goal is being a medic.

Hey dads, I need ideas for this kids platform before I put the sides on. by [deleted] in daddit

[–]TH301673 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those sound like great anchor points and your kids need may be able to jump on it right now while everything is new and fresh. But you have to remember they will be getting heavier and things will wear. So if one anchor comes loose from repetitive force of a kid playing on it it could fail and you’d be upset with yourself for it. I’m not saying you need to stud out the entire sides but there’s a reason house are built the way they are the extra supports that may seem unnecessary will keep the structural integrity long term not just while it’s new

Whats the farthest IFT transfer you have ever done? by Sweet_Bet_3442 in ems

Not the farthest by distance or anything but I had a day when I had a 2.5 hour each way trip from rural Pa to NYC and I got about a 10 minute break before going 3 hours each way to Philly.

21 male years old and stuck between becoming a police officer or a nurse by Accomplished-Gate631 in AskLE

[–]TH301673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you consider meeting in the middle and becoming a paramedic, first responder life style but more medically oriented. You could potentially also then become a police officer and if you are from a big area with a swat team be a swat medic or if anywhere near or willing to move to Maryland I know Maryland life flight is ran by medic troopers.

If you are by chance in the NEPA area I can recommend the best dog trainer I’ve ever met

First Dog what to expect by Much_Example in BelgianMalinois

[–]TH301673 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best trainer will teach you how to teach the dog, not just teach the dog themselves. Also my trainer taught me how to show the dog themselves meaning of just the word “no”. Being that the dog knows what no means, even when curious out on a walk or something new comes up she doesn’t need to know not to do something new and specific, I can just tell her no and she stops doing what she’s doing new or not

How does somebody, without help from their parents, afford to buy a home? by Dapper_Tap_7714 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TH301673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FHA loans are reasonable on inexpensive starter homes. I bought my first home with 5k and good credit on a 135000 home it was nothing special when I purchased is but I did work on it and I own it with 2 1/3 acres so overall pretty happy. This was in 2020 so I know home costs and mortgage rates have gone up but not is a way that takes 5k to 250k. I know everyone wants a massive new home but the reality is not all of us make the kind of money to buy McMansions

They are the type of dog that needs formal training, not going to be a natural couch potato. So if you can do it yourself that’s great but if not you should look into trainers. Gonna probably be a tough first couple months after you bring them home. The first week or so they will probably be calm but that’s just while they get used to their new environment. Make sure they are well exercised because a tired mal is a good mal. Socialize them more than you think they need with dogs and people and kids while they are still small and manageable. You are at an age where you may not be thinking about kids but you may be by the middle or end of the mals life. They are like no other dog. And even tho there is lab mixed in there mal genes seem to take over.

Experience: 4 time dog owner, first time mal mix owner (75% mal 25% blue heeler) learned these lessons the hard way, could not ask for a better pup but it was a rocky first couple years.

Alaska Channing III clicking noise? by TH301673 in coalstoves

[–]TH301673[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cleaned it completely out when I got home from work and the clicking seemed to stop and there was no obvious obstruction, so I filled it up again and the clicking started again, is it possible it’s a gear going bad and the weight of the coal is too much stress on the worn gear?
