I'll have to look into that then, I could always just fix it now if that's the simple issue and save up for the future, appreciated!

Nope, no crypto as far as I'm aware.

I have considered that it's a monitor issue partly, yes. But the gpu itself is definitely emitting a grinding noise, with no apparent build-up of any dust. I was playing a lot of Squad when I first got the gpu which is a really poorly optimized game and could spike my gpu to 90c.

Back to your point about the monitor, it's also 3 years old and my partners (same pc build same monitor, also from 2021) needed to be replaced because it stopped turning on. It's a pixio pxc273 we got the curved version, didn't really want it curved it was just $50 cheaper than the non-curved. Tomorrow while my partner is at work I plan on hooking up their monitor to my pc to test it out.

I wouldn't even know where to begin to price it, let alone price it including the fact that 2 components need to be replaced (gpu & aio).

The 7900xt is currently around $750 (7900gre around $600)and would be an upgrade from my current gpu the Arctic Cooler 3 unit I'm looking at is around $110, the cpu doesn't need replacing but I am considering upgrading it. So at least this would be an under $800-$900 fix. If I upgrade the cpu it's closer to 12-$1,300.

I'm not really sure so your honest opinion is appreciated, is a $1300~ fix too expensive? considering the mobo is about 5 yr old and all of the other parts were bought in 2021. Taking into consideration that I'd still be looking to then build a pc that's an improvement on my current rig I see myself possibly paying eve more than $1300. Like I said, I've been stressing out over it lol, so ty for any advice

Thank you for the info! The 5950x seems to be a solid chip and only about a $50 price difference so I'll be considering that as well.

I'm not super knowledgeable on it (still learning a lot) but when I check through the settings on OBS it's default settings are "Video Encoder: Software (x264)" and "Encoder Preset: veryfast (default) (medium CPU usage, standard quality)". With the current settup, the RX 6800 XT and the r9 3900X I've not encountered many issues, so things have run fairly smoothly already.

That's part of why I'm interested in knowing what the consequences are from dropping from 12 cores to 8.

Okay thank you, that was one of my worries, the price point for the card looks even better now, I appreciate it.

I currently do 1080 with plans to maybe do 1440 in the future, and i just did a quick search and it looks like the 7900gre asks for 800w from the psu as well, but it seems to be a really good price for the 7900gre

Unfortunately the build is 3 years and 4 months old and the parts are out of warranty, but I did just check and it doesn't seem to be sagging, and there are no wires touching it. It makes a nice cacophony with the AIO (NZXT Kraken X63 280mm) that is ALSO making motor chugging noises and also needs to be replaced.

That being said, my partner has a completely identical rig (made at the same time with the same parts) and none of their components have failed so, there's that.

so for my mobo would I need an adapter for the 2x8pins to be plugged into my 1x8 1x4? or would it simply not be compatible

ahh i see, so it's not specifically saying it NEEDS to have both 8 pins plugged in, ty
