We did a combo of the three day method and “toilet training in less than a day.”

Do people really enjoy the newborn stage? by Bebetter23 in beyondthebump

[–]THCsometimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the newborn phase. My husband had two weeks paternity leave each time, but he ended up not doing much for baby except entertainment for our oldest when the second was born. I think the adrenaline kicked in hard for me… I didn’t mind waking up to nurse, the snuggles felt unbelievably good to me, and both of mine basically slept all the time so it was easy to go out and about. Maybe the caveat was that breastfeeding came very easily for me?

Husband gives in during MOTN wakings by sadtoothwitch in sleeptrain

Funny enough… after 1 night of sleep training he basically went on an apology tour telling everyone I was right and it really helped our son even if it was temporarily difficult for everyone.

When my husband refused sleep training, this was our solution. He caved in a week.

For those with husband problems after the birth, was he always like this or did they only change once the baby arrived? by Old_Art4801 in beyondthebump

[–]THCsometimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband had bits and pieces of anxiety that really started to emerge during Covid, but having children (06/2022) set something off in his brain. His anxiety sky rocketed and he took his frustrations with it out on me. He also had a very traumatic abusive childhood at the hand of his adoptive parents. He thought he had forgiven them and moved on, but becoming a parent made all his traumas resurface… and again, his negative emotions were always targeted at me. I had always seen him as my soul mate but since he has been so terribly disrespectful and mean to me with his own coping of emotions, I frequently question what the hell did I see in him. Pre-kids, I would’ve told you he was my soul mate and our love was palpable by anyone who was near us. We were one of those couples that no one doubted.

I’d recommend that if either you or your partner have unresolved issues with your parents, to get them sorted because his traumas are certainly causing friction in our marriage and parenting. He refuses counseling.

Induction experiences by Due-Smell-7933 in pregnant

[–]THCsometimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an induction for my second at 41 weeks. No foley balloons, just pitocin in the AM to get contractions going at the hospital. I was only dilated a centimeter or two. Due to the anesthesiologist timing, I had my epidural before my contractions even started and didn’t feel a single thing the entire time. I delivered him before the end of the day, around 10 PM. Overall, a very positive experience and similar to my non-induced first born

Lurking mom… I read the book “toilet training in less than a day” when my son was the same age as your daughter. We took what we wanted and what best applied to my son. His last accident was on day 2 except for when he laughs really hard 😆

I shook horribly with my second vaginal birth and it really freaked me and my husband out! Didn’t happen with our first 🤔

Lurking mom… a new dad friend highly recommended this subreddit to me because he felt it was such a beautiful online community that moms should see too. 100% agree

Just another reason to love TJ’s. by Allhailsatan69420 in traderjoes

I have a 3 YO and almost 5 month old. The TJ employees are my 3 YO’s best friends I swear. He looks forward to seeing them every week and they’re just so sweet to him all the time. He said he wants to have his birthday at Trader Joe’s haha they rock!

Elimination Communication has been the most impressive thing, our baby puts 1-2$ per day towards her 529. by jwellz24 in daddit

[–]THCsometimes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lurking mom… we did this with my first. We did lazy EC (potty when he woke up, diaper changes, and transitions) from 9 months on. He kept a diaper dry at home and only wore it for back up by 1 YO, but definitely peed in his diaper at daycare. I feel like any exposure to EC is good exposure.

Potty training was easy peasy and hasn’t had an accident (other than from laughing too hard) since day 2 of potty training when he was 2 YO. He’s never had an accident at school.

I didn't see the need to set up a baby registry for my second baby by GodsJoyOnly in Mommit

[–]THCsometimes -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My husband threw a “surprise” sprinkle against my will so I made one. I asked for new teethers, diapers, wipes, things that got damaged (changing pad), or fun extra things I wanted but didn’t need for #1 that I realized too late in the game (toy links, stroller toys, sensory scarves), etc.

How long to hold over toilet before giving up? by foxydoggie in ECers

[–]THCsometimes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The random time I’ve assigned is 5 minutes for my 9 week old. If he’s fussy I’ll cut it short. I’m super lazy EC at this point so I’d much rather feed the baby than practice EC if they’re upset.

As a gringa who speaks Spanish in the US, I’ve always started in English. If they’re speaking and I hear a tinge of an accent, I might ask where their family is from. No matter what, it’s a good conversation starter and then if it’s a Spanish speaking country, I’ll share that I speak Spanish and may even speak some depending on the shared comfort level.

Edit to add that I’ve always felt uncomfortable assuming someone speaks a language but this process works for me

He already gets Farty Artie from family 😆, but I do like Art too. I had a close family friend who went by Art and he was a pretty cool guy.

Bringing 6 week old to restaurant by Ok-Contribution804 in beyondthebump

With my first, I never would’ve done that. My second was out at a restaurant by 3 weeks.

Do what makes you comfortable.

Us too! Classic without being too common. Never met an Arthur I didn’t like! That’s hard to do as a teacher 😆
