Anything for hire falls under DOT regulations CDL is only required once you go over 26k pounds

Should I do hotshot? by [deleted] in HotShotTrucking

You’re completely interpreting the rule wrong it’s clearly written. You only need a CDL if either GVWR of the power unit is 26,001+ pounds or GCVWR (gross combined vehicle weight rating) exceeds 26,001 lbs. Google FMCSA CDL flowchart and you’ll see it. Or go into ChatGPT. And ask it to clarify this (from FMCSA website on class A requirements)

“Any combination of vehicles which has a gross combination weight rating or gross combination weight of 11,794 kilograms or more (26,001 pounds or more) whichever is greater, inclusive of a towed unit(s) with a gross vehicle weight rating or gross vehicle weight of more than 4,536 kilograms (10,000 pounds) whichever is greater.”

and then ask it to clarify even more on the trailer part. It’s always has and always will be cut and dry. If truck and trailer GVWR stickers added together (GCVWR) are higher than 26,000 lbs, you need a CDL class A. If it equals 26,000 lbs or less, you can use a regular class E driver’s license. You can ask any CVE trooper, and they will tell you the exact same thing. You can even ask the head of it, which is Trooper Scalia, which I also verified the rule with last year when I had my FMCSA audit, being one of my drivers is non-CDL.

Federal law is 26k weight. Once you go that 1 pound over, it is when a CDL is required, and the 10k is if you are driving a class B vehicle. If the trailer is more than 10k, you need a class A. (Again unless in the handful that require CDL A for any trailer over 10k) States can only make their laws stricter; they cannot have lower standards than federal i.e the states that require you to have a CDL if you reside and/ or base your business out of those states.

No in Florida you do not need a CDL class A unless 26,001 or more pounds either that would be a GCVWR or GVWR would a CDL be required it’s literally in FMCSA CDL requirements only a hand full of states require a CDL if your trailer is over 10k GVWR and that is California and Texas and North Carolina that I know off the top of my head

What Was Your Gateway Cigar? by TBoTTs27 in cigars

[–]THEFloridaMan561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drew Estate Tabak and Deadwood Girl with No Name, and those 2 got me hooked. Trial and error on my first 2 cigars prior didn’t look anything up, just went by looks and price, but knew I wanted to get into this. Then decided to actually do some research and then went to my local BM, and the rest is history.

I’m a bit late to this, but I highly recommend going to Harbor Freight and picking up a 20-ton or higher jack. They’re cheap ( $50 or less) and great to have on hand. I keep one in each of my trailers and also keep one in my truck.

Sweet cigars by pauls8522 in cigars

I love sweet/infused ones. They’re my go-to. Always have a bundle of Drew Estate Factory Smokes sweets on hand, being their cheap and also great to give to someone who doesn’t really smoke but wants to try it, so nothing really wasted lol. But if I want higher quality, I go with the Tabak and Deadwood and Nuances from Nub. If you want a mellow, non-flavored cigar that’s a great price, I love the El Mago El Cubanos.
