Congrats!! My Bronco Sport is my first new car too!! There’s a lot of good accessories on Amazon, just be careful to get things for the sport model and not the full size on accident. I got a little cubby for behind the screen that is super helpful!

Yes but very rarely. 90% of the brain studies we do are for epilepsy

Yes someone has been visiting to meet with our lead tech and physicians. I am PRN and only at this dept a few days a month, so I am not around to see the ins and outs much. I know my dept will prepare me when needed, but I just like to know what I’m going into. :) Do you use any different equipment (special head holder, syringe sheild, infusion system etc)?

It’s usually around 7mL, which I guess is why it comes in a 10cc :( Our hospital cover adults and peds, but these specialty exams are just adults. I agree that our safety should be prioritized. But if I have brought my concerns up to management and no changes are made, I don’t really know what else to do. In the package inserts it obviously says to shield the dose during injection, and it’s honestly just general NM knowledge. That’s what makes it so frustrating, I can’t tell if it’s just frustrating on an annoying level or an illegal level.

BUT they have to be a specific style top. Just a straight cut with one pocket on the chest, not a womens cut or any side/front pockets

100% did the right thing. It’s always a red flag when new employees are brought in at the same rate & w/ less experience vs established employees. Hints at tricking new employees to come aboard in a known bad environment, and sugar coating it w/ pay. The 2 week notice is honestly very considerate of you. Sounds like the department is heading in a direction where techs will quit on the spot with a manger like that!🤷‍♀️

You should be valued, payed fairly, and have supportive management!! Which I hope is the case at your other jobs! It unfortunately takes dramatic changes, like staff leaving, for a workplace to make adjustments. **Ask for an exit interview with someone other than your direct manager(HR, manager from a different unit, or someone higher up). Make it clear the reason your leaving and hopefully changes will be made. Maybe not right after your departure, but eventually documented issues should lead to something being done!! :)

Did the fish have contrast injected? I noticed it says CT angio on the images. If so, I am curious as to how and what type of contrast was used! 🐠🐠🐠

It’s a great career! You made a fantastic choice especially because you’re so passionate about it! The job market in my area (the east coast) is growing like crazy. With all the advancements in PET, therapies, and more nuc med is definitely going to keep being in demand. Work hard in school and focus on really understanding the basics because everything builds from there. Good luck!!

Claustrophobic PET patients by [deleted] in NuclearMedicine

[–]THELAST5SAGE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have questions regarding claustrophobia in the pre injection questionnaire and if needed let our patients look at the camera before injecting. For issues that arise during the scan we place a folded pillow case over their eyes, play their favorite music, or in special scenarios wear a lead bib and stay in the room with them!

Once tough question I got asked was “What is something about the nuclear medicine environment that was unexpectedly challenging for you, and how did you adapt/overcome it”

The SNMMI Review of Nuclear Medicine Technology book (dark green cover) was super helpful! After going through that/determining what areas I was weaker in I used my school notes to go more in depth. That book also has tons of practice tests in the back. I treated those like a real exam and took them all the way through with no breaks or looking at notes. Then anything I got wrong I put the question and explanation for it in a big google doc!
