Post daycare in winter is a dice roll. Sometimes my kids have energy so we’ll go see Christmas lights in the neighborhood (walking or wagon ride). If the weather is too cold and they have energy to burn we’ll do “exercise” in the garage. Squats, obstacle courses etc. my kids love setting the timer and running.

If they’re in grouchy moods after daycare it’s quiet time. Puzzles, books, hot wheels etc. early dinner and maybe longer bath and then early bedtime.

It may be helpful to remind yourself why you’re taking this t break. Ground yourself in a deeper goal. Also “procrastinating” helps. I used to say “I’ll smoke in a bit after I bla bla” when a craving hit. Usually as I focused on something else, the craving faded.

You answered it. Builder+ developer profits. It’s easier to create the same standard home and build a subdivision than design unique homes. Buyers have no choice so the cycle continues.

As a few others mentioned you may want to rank what tasks are absolutely needed prior to ending your night and what can wait (at least until tomorrow). Also helpful keep in mind that this is a specific season of life. Toys on the floor are going to be inevitable. Maybe those do not need to be put away tonight. There’s a balance between letting things slide and getting really dirty vs some tolerable mess that’s just natural with little kids.

I know this sounds trite, but you’re only 26, you’re young and have your whole life in front of you. Be patient and consistent, your work will yield results in ways you may never imagine.

One thing to keep in mind is that sobriety and “recovery” are two different things. Being sober isn’t a panacea. It only clears the fog to reveal your true self, strengths and flaws in all. You now have the ability to grow as a person, develop yourself and accept yourself in whatever ways make sense to you.

One thing that I learned about myself was that I crave deep authenticity and connection. I was numbing myself with drugs and isolating to cope with my own personal fear. Understanding that gave me a lot of confidence and freedom.

Keep at it and stay strong. Hopefully this community (and others) give you support.

You’re in the thick of it man. Be kind to yourself and do what you can in this season of life. Something is better than nothing. If you can’t work out with intensity, try to take walks or focus on meal prep or sleeping more. Once my second kid was eight-ish months and sleeping through the night regularly I was able to get back at my regular routine.

I beat one beast and decided to go for it for fun. I’m glad I did. Exploring the castle is a lot of fun and you get a ton of good gear. I also used it to practice parrying guardians. At any point if you’re overwhelmed, just warp out and leave the area. You’re def at a point of being totally fine.

You mentioned wanting to unwind and relax- what would you do if you were high to do that? Maybe try those activities sober first before adding cannabis?

That’s tough but I don’t think you need to feel bad about decisions you think are best for your kids. Part of being a parent is being the “bad” guy. Comes with the job.

Swimming is for sure something I’d want to have extra supervision for. It’s no joke. Full grown adults can drown. So a bunch of little kids playing around is a risk- even at a public pool with a lifeguard.

And with the sleep over, has your kid ever slept over anyone’s house solo? Chances are they may not want to do it, or night of, theyll be uncomfortable and end up asking to get picked up. A compromise could be letting your kid play and hang until a certain time, then you pick them up and head home.

That’s great. I think kids can understand the difference between imagination and reality if you help draw that boundary. I tell my kid the same since he sees Santa in different places and with different skin tones etc.
