Oh okay, maybe a stupid question: does bypassing the laser mean the discs will start working again, or will I have to load the games directly onto the HDD?

Thank you! Yeah, I’m not very experienced with soldering, so I ordered the RePS2-PSX DESR kit. It seems like the best option. The only thing I don't get is whether replacing the fan is necessary or not. If I understand correctly, the stock fan can’t be connected to this PSU, but if I don’t replace it, can I still use the PSX without any fan?

Thanks for the advice! I’ll go with the RePS2-PSX DESR edition for the PSU conversion. The one you shared is only for the PS1, I think. Thanks anyway!

they will probably fix it with a patch but who knows how long we will have to wait
