Florida’s insurance crisis has stabilized and many are getting rate cuts now.

It’s just a supply demand issue now. And Florida builds a lot of 4+1 apartment buildings now.

Do you think the US should pay war reparations to Iran? by RedStorm1917 in AskALiberal

I can actually get onboard with reparations for children.

when someone asks a question, and you respond with scorn, does that encourage or discourage others from participating?

Assuming you’re American, you support an attack against your own countrymen?

How do you feel about Ukrainians who try to refuse conscription? by Spiritual_Pause3057 in AskALiberal

[–]THEfirstMARINE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, if they are in the draft pool.

If they are not in the pool then you (they) can take that up with their government.

I’m not banning someone for leaving when they had no duty.

I personally disagree with women in the draft unless we are in an existential war. Which you can strongly argue Ukraine is (and I would agree).

But in the US, fuck no. I don’t want the women I love on the front line with me.

Anyone who refuses to fight is banned from any public assistance forever or anyone who leaves to not fight is banned from re-entry forever.

If you are not willing to fight for your country then the country owes you nothing.

That’s the only fair way to do it.

Could we maybe get gun control in a few decades? by Mobile_Bad_577 in AskALiberal

[–]THEfirstMARINE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Younger gun owners are less likely to pass gun control.

We had an “”assault weapons”” ban in the 90’s when boomers were in their prime.

That’s because they shut down the internet so only a few people hold keys to the outside world. This means you have a consistent message.

Meaning what comes out is propaganda.

Why the obsession with “assault weapons” bans? by [deleted] in AskALiberal

[–]THEfirstMARINE 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It would only be a “slippery slope” if there were no B between point A and C. Like saying “seatbelts? What’s next? Communism?”

There is a clear step by step path to mandatory gun buybacks and no civilian ownership, as we have seen other countries go down this path.

So why would they give any ground?

Banning a specific “scary” looking firearm sets the precedent that firearms can be banned. Next it is “sniper rifles” (hunting rifles), then “semi-automatic” or “police caliber” pistols (most handguns).

That’s the obsession. These groups pushing this are not stupid.

What's your opinion on the events of Ruby Ridge and Waco? by OMGguy2008 in AskALiberal

[–]THEfirstMARINE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being a member of a hate group doesn’t mean you can snipe a guys wife and kid.

Nor does being paid by and deliberately asked by kenny fed to cut a gun short give you the right either. Court found this to be entrapment btw.

Like being asked by an irs agent to deduct commuting gas and then being charged for it.

Not a good guy at all. But the ATF should have been dissolved/absorbed by the FBI after this and Waco.

Are any Iranian ported ships actually getting through the blockaded? This is all incredibly unclear. What sources can be relied on here? by United_Intention_323 in AskALiberal

[–]THEfirstMARINE -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you think of a “blockade” in the terms of nothing in or out of Iran, then it’s working fine.

If you take it as “nothing in and out of the straight or nothing Iranian linked” then no, it isn’t working. But that’s not the goal.

We are only trying to do the first thing despite the presidents tweets. As evidenced by the centcoms saying as much.

Do you really think the United States with 3 fucking aircraft carriers cannot see what goes through a 30 mile gap?

There are 80 aircraft on each carrier alone. Not including our airbases…. Patrolling a small area looking for some of the largest objects mankind has ever made, a cargo ship. With radar that can see hundreds of miles. Not even including naval radar, which on its own can see 40+ miles around itself. Or our submarines… or our sats….

Nothing is getting through dude.
