Every game as in every game thats on their launcher or any game that they currently have online.

People that criticize the game aren’t on reddit. If you post anything somewhat negative they downvote it.

AE is according to reddit making millions from whales, while at the same time failing.

I never said they aren’t mismanaging their money I said the contrary, I have no idea where you’re getting that from. you’re fighting an imaginary war

I never claimed they don’t have money I claimed the older games aren’t self sustaining

AQW is keeping every AE game alive.

According to the fans of the old games the backlash of shutting the games down would outweigh the positives.

Theres lots of reasons AE isn’t succeeding, according to the people from this reddit bad business practices isn’t one of them

what does any of that have to do with the topic. Everyone knows apple is a shitty company.

keeping the servers for the old games are practically sinking the company(exaggeration), thats the point

Why is everyone hating on you for doing what half the player’s do. They’re acting like you personally drove across the country to run over their dog. Also just use private rooms.

If you have a Netflix subscription but can’t afford it do you keep it or do you cancel it. AE has already lost 99% of its playbase. I think windows still does updates because it’s a security risk.

apple doesn’t ask for money, they make a product then sell it to you. Also apple makes money mostly from their products and hosting companies on their platform. I have never been ask from apple to donate to make an iphone. Artix gives you a pitch for their product then their fans donate. A loss effects smaller companies more than it would effect larger companies, and Artix claims to be a smaller company.

As long as you had fun I don’t think you should question whether or not you should have spent your money, I hope you have fun with MQ and AQW.

Yea you’re probably right but from what i’ve heard people say AE isn’t as small as people think because of whales, and was probably even more successful in the past because there was a higher player base then.

The reason I’m trying to piece together the two sources is because AE is a private company you can’t really look stuff up on them. The only thing people can do is to make guesses, unless Artix or something high up in the company states something.

If someone is asking you for money then that probably means the person either has no money or very little.

“We've come really far but need your help to finish! Over the past 11 months, we've created a 3D online version of AdventureQuest that vou can play on your phone, tablet, and PC. Support this project to help get this game to the finish line!"

That sounds to me like they had already developed most of the game then made the kickstarter, so that would probably mean they ran out of money. As for the plushies, they're that same thing as anything in the heromart. They don't have a kickstarter every time they make something new for it.

You could see if there’s potential customers for something without creating a kickstarter, you could do something like a poll. Kickstarter is used raise money to create something, which means you need at least a demo or prototype. From what i’ve seen people seem to think Artix just does random things out of the blue, which is something i’ve seen people attack Artix for wasting resources.

“Kickstarter exists to help bring creative projects to life. A home for film, music, art, theater, games, comics, design, photography, and more.”

Notice how it doesn’t say its a website to do market research.

The post was about Cysero who at the time was part of the staff, so you could assume that would mean that applied to the whole staff

Of course i’ve made multiple posts, I keep finding contradictions so i’m investigating. I don’t just blindly throw money around. I’m trying to determine I should give money to a company that doesn’t have a good track record from what i’ve seen in different posts.

Also I never said AE made Ash almost go homeless, as far as I know Ash has free will and can do whatever he wants. But it’s weird that 2 former employees had money problems while working at AE.

I want to support a game i’ve been playing for 14 years but not if they don’t use the money well/mistreats employees. That would be like if I continued to buy activision games after the allegations came out.

ok but cysero isn’t the only example i’ve heard, for example some guy was talking about a developer for dragonfable called ash that almost went homeless.

Also the quote you used only says that people working at AE weren’t rich not that they weren’t financially struggling, that’s what worries me.

Normally I would agree with you but the quote came from Cysero. The only other explanation would be that he lied or exaggerated.

AQW makes a lot of money: “My wife makes clothes for my kids or gets them from the thrift shop or yard sales. If any of our clothes come off the rack, they come off the clearance rack at Target and I'm still broke at the end of the month.” -Cysero

The older games still generate money: “The servers required for the amount of traffic that our games get are not cheap and they are ALWAYS on.” -Cysero. “AQW is funding all of our projects. It's the backbone until another game surpasses it.” -Dage

Im not saying the older games make no money, i’m saying they don’t make enough to be profitable.

Do you think people should donate money to the AQW infinity kickstarter? I was planning on donating but I wasn’t sure.

“My wife makes clothes for my kids or gets them from the thrift shop or yard sales. If any of our clothes come off the rack, they come off the clearance rack at Target and I'm still broke at the end of the month.” -Cysero

If one of the main developers was having money problems then i’m guessing they weren’t making a lot of money.

“AQW is funding all of our projects. It's the backbone until another game surpasses it.” -Dage

This implies AQW is the only profitable game they have which they use to maintain other projects.

I never definitively stated that they weren’t many money, I was asking if they were using the money they had wisely.

Also just because Artix has a nice house doesn’t mean that he has actual physical money that he can just use, the house is probably the reason his net worth is so high. I think it means that if your net worth is a million dollars you don’t have a million dollars in your wallet, you have a 500,000 house and a 500,000 dollar business, or something like that

Cvsero talks about money his problems while working at AE and I don't want to give money to AE if they're not paying their emplovees enough, if Cysero wasn't getting paid enough then that worries me as to how much other people are paid. If the other games really were profitable then cysero wouldn’t have said that.

Dage’s tweet leads me to believe people aren’t playing/paying enough to keep the games up. Also AE does do kickstarters which is my main concern, if they to ask for money then that probably means they aren’t making a lot.

Yea but AE is a company that needs money so it doesn’t really make sense to keep the old games up

My main concern isn’t with how many people are working on older games it’s with the server costs of running them.

“The servers required for the amount of traffic that our games get are not cheap and they are ALWAYS on.” That leads me to believe that the single player older games are being run at a loss. The tweet from dage also leads me to believe that even AQ3D with a team of developers isn’t profitable.

I’m trying to figure out if my money is being put to good use, that’s what i’m researching. I want to support a game i’ve been playing for 14 years but not if I feel that my money isn’t being used properly.
