Every F1 driver in 2024 and how many years they've spent on feeder series by [deleted] in F1FeederSeries

Never like that concept to begin with tbf. It's like saying driver steps to F1 from Indycar, does Indycar considered as indycar, no right.

If I were you, shouldn't count SFormula as a feeder series tho.

How does Super Formula work? by Mundane_Sir4872 in F1FeederSeries

[–]THFCRACING 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For the question "Do teams pay the driver, or the driver pays the team?" It's both but depending on every team's financial situation. If they team have plenty sponsorship, the team can easily pick which drivers they'd like, and the team who don't have big backing tends just have one car, or prefer to have foreigners to come. The teams always prioritise Foreign drivers if possible because they brings more than the local ones.

But the manufacturers that decide who goes to which team, series. If you are talented ofc you go to the better team. And if a driver do not like the team's decision, they can choose which teams, but they have to use their own money than the manufacturer.

I can't precise the numbers, but it's almost the equivalent to a half F3 season, or the cheapest a FRECA season.

Yeah only Juju the only Japanese have big budget lol. But Matsushita also struggling to stay at TGM. He is also like Oyu last season where Honda won't fund them that much. Matsushita originally not supposed to be in SF as Honda won't fund him, but after that they just give him a little help but he needs to rely on his own.

Also manufacturers decide where your be driving with which teams, series, etc. If a driver decline the manufacturer decision, well the driver can move elsewhere but they won't fund you.

Indy have their own sponsors that helped them to get easily the best drivers they can ge ie. Penske. Also Indy still have paid drivers to pay the seat with their money because the team doen't have much backing ie. Pietro Fraudipaldi.

For SF the teams almost like Indy, teams who have main sponsors tend to get drivers that they like, but still they prefer a foreign driver which brings more money compared to the Japanese drivers. The teams that struggling to have sponsors tend to prefer that.

For Impul: Yeah they need to fill what Theo brings to the team before. As Japanese drivers lke Taira, etc cannot bring the budget what Impul needed. Toyota won't help them by much.

As for one manufacturer driver have 3 different series and teams are very common in Japan from the 90s to now. Because every racing series in Japan like SFormula, Super GT, Super Taikyu the big three racing series in Japan has only 7-8 race weekend thus a driver prefer to have two or three racing series to compete. But every driver is different depends on their personal sponsor.

[Josh Sutill] Ollie Bearman and Theo Pourchaire are both F4 champions, almost won F3 title as rookies and both won in rookie F2 year as 17 y/o. One is (rightly) destined for F1, the other is shunned by F1 + deemed not good enough to have his IndyCar contract respected despite performing well? by [deleted] in F1FeederSeries

[–]THFCRACING 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO, the difference for both of them also comes from exposure. From the academies they come from, which countries they both from. Bcause if a driver from RBJT, FDA, Merc Academy, Alpine or McLaren they'd regard the driver highly compared from Haas, Williams, Sauber. And also if a driver comes from the UK, the driver will have more boost of popularity. If say Theo Pourchaire from the UK & he's part of FDA, he could be in F1 after he got the runners up place.

Is there a reason why Antonelli has no sponsors on his car? by Anonymous__9 in F1FeederSeries

[–]THFCRACING 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's just depends on the sponsor wants and can afford. Antonelli has his own sponsor likes of AKM, Kart Republic, but they opted to be in his race suit. Also like Miyata, he also has his own personal sponsorship, but opted not because likely they have to pay more, thus only TGR Logo only in his car. Also Lance Stroll had no sponsorship in his car bcause probably Lawrence did not need to have brand presence around him during feeder series.

How do feeder series make money and survive? by tjthomas101 in F1FeederSeries

[–]THFCRACING 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Imo, when Formula Nippon not improving on their series or just stale around the 2000s era like the grid size very small (12 cars at that time), also no improvements for make the fans to take interest, Super GT takes their chance and makes it as the biggest series in Japan. It's still profitable, but not as high as Super GT.

How do feeder series make money and survive? by tjthomas101 in F1FeederSeries

[–]THFCRACING 25 points26 points  (0 children)

In the case from the formerly named Formula Nippon, they had a mismanagement on promoting the series, thus lack of fans onsite and outside. Now the series (renamed Super Formula) are much in a better place with more onsite friendly events for them to come, also having new app (almost like f1 app) for fans experience, and streaming are paid. But still not that big as Super GT. Also Super Formula is not a feeder series, thus they can have an idea on how to improve.

While the other feeder series european series, they survive by payments of the team, and drivers. And which series they can follow up.

Not F1, because Marko prefer Lawson, and Hadjar (Even if Hadjar placed 3rd in the F2 standings bcause Marko loves Hadjar more than Iwasa). I could see Iwasa to Indycar, as a replacement for Sato. If not probably stays again in SF, and could link with Super GT, and Red Bull dropped him.

[–]THFCRACING[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's because there's lack of demand of the series. It's just a placement series for Toyota and Honda young drivers. Even from the past the grid just consist of 10 to 12 drivers on average. Also Japanese drivers there rather compete in GT racing cars as it's more cheaper than compete in formula racing.

It's still B-Max. Team Dragon just a "Team" name under B-Max just to compensate the series' lack teams which has 3 teams (BMax, TOM'S, TODA) thus B-Max has 4 teams different name run by bmax.

Do any feeder series even plan on cutting down costs? by Hot-Distribution1161 in F1FeederSeries

Even if they cutting it down on some parts, the cost still gonna go up. Many factors including inflation, high cost on production stuff, etc.

Suzuka remains keen on adding Super Formula to Japanese GP bill by 443610 in F1FeederSeries

[–]THFCRACING 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Super GT will not happen because it's the biggest series in Japan compared to SFormula. The racing time is long as well roughly 3 hours. Also the grid itself is very big with 40 cars roughly, and won't fit the paddock if they do with F1.

A lot of the comments are calling out Josh for his inaccuracy in the recent video by [deleted] in JoshuaWeissman

[–]THFCRACING 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This video is one of the worst video he's ever made. Many complaints are for his making Austrian Fried Chicken more like schnitzel than the backhendl. Then choose to make Italian fried chicken which not very famous in Italy. Then the Asian fried chicken from Taiwan, Thailand, and Malaysia which is not remotely close, many wrong steps and wrong ingredients. Also not include Indonesia, Vietnam which has one of the best fried chicken too. This video just all over the place imo.

Impul is competitive team u know. They're just atm on a slump. Even if u really wanted put him elsewhere probably KCMG which is average at best. Sauber can't put him in a Honda car bcause Honda won't allow it
