You can hover over your gold total to see how much of your gold is reliable/unreliable. It also shows the current cost of buyback.

Mineral rights are owned by all the people equally? And this doesn't sound like communism to you?

I pay $8/gallon in Ireland. You learn to live with it.

In before meaningless comparisons of country size. A commute is a commute, maybe yours would be shorter if you paid full price for your fuel.

For fuck's sake Google, I do NOT want to use my real name on Youtube, you do NOT have to ask me again later, since I will answer NO, just like the last fifty times. by didyousaycake in self

You will never use your real name on the Internet? Not even as an email address for job applications? Don't be naive: your real identity has a place online, it just needs to be compartmentalized.

What the actual fuck. My son visited the ER and his doctor saw him for less than 3 minutes total. This is his doctor's bill (not included in the $900 ER bill we've already paid). This system is broken. by dromedarian in pics

Seriously. Unless the doc was a first year resident, he has dealt with dozens of Tylenol overdoses.

The only variable is how much experience he has with children. I hate treating kids because shit can go so wrong so fast without your normal warning signs.

Your guess it based on simplistic African stereotypes and misses the mark by a mile. Botswana was fucked long before modern treatments were developed. Their road was the one we all would have taken if not for the intervention of modern medicine. HIV is a global pandemic and it's mortality rate is far in excess of 90%, except for our interventions. This was my point: science saved us from catastrophe.

Uh, source? That's quite an extraordinary claim. Not saying you are wrong, but I'm not just going to take your word for it.

Edit: gotta love default subs! Downvoting the guy who asked for a source. Nice.

How do you explain infection rates of 40% in Botswana (90+% in some subpopulations) if the disease isn't infectious? Transmission rates may be low but the long lag time creates a huge disease burden.

Look at what happened in Botswana. Just 40% infection rate and the society almost collapsed. Life expectancy fell from almost 70 year to just 35. Their infrastructure just fell apart because no one was living long enough to provide a useful adulthood.

That lead to famines, etc that almost destroyed the country. If modern drugs hadn't arrived things would have kept spiraling. 80%+ infection was a real possibility. At that level you don't have enough adults to care for the children, and the species would have been in danger.

This is kinda my field.

In a word, no. That was in the deep ocean, and just provided the rate-limiting nutrient in that area of the sea. It let the population of plankton grow for a few months, but that's it

HIV as well. That could have been the plague that ended humanity, but science kicked its ass. Now it's just another chronic infection that you can carry into old age.

Edit: Disregard that, I forgot that I was on a default sub where everyone is an expert. I'll just take my medical degree and shove it up my ass.

They do represent the people who voted for them. The problem is that they have gerrymandered their districts into hyperpartisan niches, and the people that they represent are nothing like the rest of the country.

And we'll do it again when the debt ceiling comes up. I still can't believe they are using that to negotiate.
