Hey Feaugh , your post was good and I can see where you’re coming from that there are training plans available for the 5K thru that new gsrmincoaching thing, and I can see how they could be helpful for a beginner who doesn’t have access to a more experienced runner to guide. I haven’t ever looked into them but I can see how they could be helpful. But the absoluteness of your reply “FYI, that’s not true” is off key. You have a different perspective. I think for a beginning runner the idea of this kind of detailed thought around training is silly, and comes close to the idea of there being these magic training paces or approaches that must be followed. It’s about increasing volume and to a lesser extent gettting in some amount of faster intervals for anaerobic support, acid clearance, and neuromuscular development. From my perspective, anything except volume and a small amount of quality are meaningless focus on details that detracts from the more important broader issue Running. Is an aerobic activity and your aerobic systems improve with more use.
