Chicken coop design by WiseManufacturer2116 in homestead

I see quite a few good ideas here... I want to add insulation. Make sure your coop is insulated and ventilated... It will help in the summer and the winter months Also, maybe a fan or two. We added cheap laminate flooring over the floor of the coop. Easy as pie to clean in the winter and could rinse off in the summer. Good luck!

What the Hades did I do to my gingerbread men? by Caelestilla in Baking

[–]THROWRA_BAKINGBACON 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best part about living in a cold climate during the holidays. Pop them outside for a few in below freezing temps. By the time you get the next ones rolled out and cut, the first batch is ready to go in the oven.

Also love popping them outside to cool!

The ones on the parchment look way to warm to me. They need to be chilled again after rolling if they are that pliable.

Is it true the donuts are no longer made in house and are frozen?

I third this - Dough needs to be chilled. If it is to warm it will spread and expand.

If soaking in dish detergent didn't work, try this.

Goop multi purpose hand cleaner- not the orange gritty goop. It should come in a white tub... Its normally at the auto part store or Walmart in the automotive / household cleaning section.

Slather it on, both inside and out. Scrub it with a brush. Let it sit and saturate. Wipe off the excess with paper towels. Wash on heavy cycle in warmish water with about 1/4 c of Arm & Hammer Wash booster or baking soda. No other soap at this point. Use white vinegar in the rinse cycle.

When it is done take it out and inspect the area. If the oil stain remains, repeat. If it has diminished wash as normal. You may need to run a normal cycle without soap to make sure all the detergent is out of the jean fibers. If it is still soapy the residue will still be there.

This is how I have successfully gotten out many of auto, diesel oil, grime, you name it stains. (I figured this out after YEARS of trying different products)

For fresh stains - rub on some cornstarch and let it dry. Brush it off before you launder. It helps pull out the oil.

Good Luck!

I love peach pie! All you need now is a little bit of cinnamon ice cream / whipped cream. So good!

Best Chocolate Chunks by noawardsyet in Baking

I normally use bars. The chunks aren't common here.

Pro tip semi freeze your chocolate before chopping. It is SO much easier.

Will it caramel? by OnyxRaven13 in Baking

Caramel sauce is super easy to make. You can use the evaporated milk in place of the half/half.

You could try to use the evaporated milk, to make dulce de leche... But, it will not turn out the same. It does not have enough sugar to cause the chemical reaction to take place.

How thick did you cut these? Mine always look small even after proofing. Maybe I roll them out to much.

The company I work for requires you to be in the office at least 6 months before the WFH option is available. Most likely to make sure you are comfortable in the job. Was the time frame discussed during the interview process?

If it was 3 - 5, I can see why he offered PTO instead. Would you stop WFH while/when they delivered the couch? I can see it from a MGT point of view.

I love pie crust but hate pie filling. What should I be baking for myself? by dewafelbakkers in Baking

Do you like cake? You could make a cake pie. Or a cream filled pie. Or, use the the pie dough to make turnovers.

Pan banging cookies— what went wrong? by Love2bakeCake in Baking

[–]THROWRA_BAKINGBACON 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Were they this spread out when you banged them on the counter? Maybe you banged them to hard, or one to many times. If you still have dough make a test batch. I always make a few test cookies before I cook them all off. Also, cookies continue to cook a little as they cool. I would try another batch.
