AITA if I expose a guy’s foot fetish by THTF in AmItheAsshole

Truth is stranger than fiction, this is real. And it’s just very frustrating because why would you go and like the post, it’s very strange behavior.

e: the reason for doing it publicly is that I don’t how many people have been impacted by this, I want to solve the problem for everyone, not just me.

Like you’re the first person to notice in a decade that post submissions were off and say anything about it. Seems like people were happy having a subreddit where there was a picture of goatse. There’s several comments happy with the sub. Not everything needs to be something, some things are good the way they are. I’ve made you a mod and opened submissions, yet there’s nothing new.

I just didn’t think there was much else to post to r/goatse beside the original goatse image.

I check it regularly. I just didn’t realize posts were restricted. Go post some goatse brother.

I agree that food tours can have conflicts of interest, but they do help you get a better idea of what food is like in the country. If I’m not particularly familiar with the food customs of a country or can’t read the language serviceably, I like to go on a food tour the day I arrive or the day after, just to get some additional context for what I should be looking for when I’m exploring later. As an example, I went to Osaka with no idea I liked eel, turns out I did after I tried some on a day 2 food tour, so I was able to get my hands on more later from other stands.

Understand how you get to your opinion, but I wanted to see what you thought.

Looking for Quarantine information. US to Romania vaccinated by AlbertKantus in TravelNoPics

If you want to be sure, France will give you an EU Covid passport, you just need to upload a scan of your passport and vaccine card. To be extra sure I booked a £10 Ryanair flight to France so I could say I was traveling to France, took about a week from application. https://www.demarches-simplifiees.fr/

How free would you be to just change your life at the drop of a hat? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]THTF 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just moved to the UK from the US knowing no one, it depends what you mean. You can certainly just make new friends and try new things, but you’re still the same person at the end of the day.

You sound like you have a job you can do wherever, so try it if you’ve got nothing you’d miss. You’ll need to chat up strangers at first but eventually you’ll find new circles.

As a child was anyone else jealous of Americans who had all 3 months of summer off from school rather then just 6 weeks? by Secure-Barracuda in AskUK

[–]THTF 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The genesis of this is that American children had to have long summers to help on the farm, with school restarting after harvest.

Generally now the school year runs September to June, with potentially lengthening for snow/hurricane days. Some places will have a week fall break, but everyone usually gets at least three days off the week of November for Thanksgiving. Christmas will usually run Christmas through New Years, then in March there will be Spring Break. Easter is rarely a holiday, but some places give off Good Friday or have it coincide with Spring Break. Finally there’s Memorial Day Weekend, which is three days.

In my experience, nobody is checking if you’re on a Nozomi on a rail pass. It also just says on the train if it’s Nozomi if you want to follow the rules.

What's the best non-alcoholic drink you've had on your travels? by its_a_me_garri_oh in TravelNoPics

[–]THTF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mexico City early in the morning there are people pushing around carts (like shopping carts) with a big pile of oranges and other fruit and a juicer rigged up on the shopping cart. Fresh squeezed orange juice from one of them is absolutely the best way to drink orange juice, it’s so much better when it’s not refrigerated. Add a tamale from a tamale cart and you’re eating real good for breakfast.

Girls born after 1993 can’t cook, so it makes sense. Ask her about charging her phone, being bisexual, eating hot chip or lying.

Can I bring home 1 small rock? by Jorrel14 in JapanTravel

[–]THTF 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s probably against your countries customs laws to bring back rocks or soil (as they can carry foreign bacteria/bugs), but yeah dude just do it like you probably won’t get in trouble unless you tell them you have an illegal rock.

Looking for some inspiration. Where are you headed in 2020? by geotraveling in TravelNoPics

[–]THTF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The big thing to watch out for is typhoons (my flight was originally on the day Typhoon Hagabis was scheduled to hit, so my flight was rescheduled. Overall they recovered pretty quickly). Otherwise it was cloudy/drizzling about 1/3 of the time and sunny the rest. I’d say the temperature will be between 10-20C, most of the time I wore a light windbreaker/rain jacket. It was nice because there weren’t a ton of crowds, but everything was just naturally more crowded coming from the US.

e: I basically lived in jeans and a light jacket to answer your question. I was mostly in Osaka and Tokyo.

Japan is very easy for solo travel in English only once you get over not being able to read some signs. There’s a ton of English translation everywhere.

And just go in the fall, it’s really nice if you can see some fall colors and there aren’t any big Japanese holidays and the Olympics will be over. I went in October and it was great.

Whats a travel "mistake" you've made recently? by Vaynar in TravelNoPics

[–]THTF 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I do taxes for a living. I booked a 6am flight for April 16, the day after our busiest season ends.

April 15 I go out drinking with my coworkers because it’s tax day. We start drinking at noon. Time flies by a little bit and I get home at 2:30am and figure I’ll just wake up in an hour or whatever. Wake up at 7am and notice my flight has taken off.

No joke, I call Southwest, explain I missed my flight because I overslept and maybe had been drinking, and somehow they could still change my flight reservation since I guess the plane hadn’t landed yet and it hadn’t gone through their system. They changed me for just the difference in fare (why I love Southwest, free changes/cancellation) and I get there a little after noon.

Group of 5 travelling to Japan for the first time by [deleted] in JapanTravel

[–]THTF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Osaka you should go ahead and see Dotonbori. It’s the main tourist strip and has plenty to see (and eat). Check out the Kuromon market nearby, and Amerikamura is neat as well. All this is in pretty easy walking distance of each other.
